Should We Have an Overtime?

The Thing and The Flash (Barry Allen) ended in a statistical tie. Out of 505 votes cast, Ben got 254 and Barry got 251. That's basically 50% each.

So I ask - should we give them an "overtime" period and let the voting keep going until tomorrow at noon?

Or let those three votes decide it?

Vote here in the comments by 11:00 pm Eastern and what ever is the answer is what we will do!

Whichever solution allows Barry to be the winner.

Now that's objective!

No overtime, even in the face of armageddon.

Just give it to Al Franken instead.

If it was exactly 50-50, I'd say, sure, overtime. But as it's not EXACT, we'll have to make Aunt Petunia happy.

And I know this is my opinion is 100% honest, because I voted Barry Allen.

no overtime, Bri-guy

since we don't have the electoral vote, I say the popular vote wins, The ever loving blue eyed Thing is your winner later!

Yeah, close one, but these ain't butterfly ballots. Ben takes it.

The Thing always has the aid of three more people than anyone else so I say the winner(s) are ol' Ben Grimm and the FF.

Overtime!

I agree with Greg. Barry Allen please! But objectively, Ben.

That's the problem with brackets. And you should live with it.

This isn't Florida 2000. Let the votes count.

no overtime; popular vote should decide the outcome.

furthermore: if it were truly a tie, as in both got exactly the same number of votes, then yes, overtime. for you to consider should there be any more ties in the upcoming matches.

Yeah, my initial reaction was overtime, but as I think about it, that was motivated more by my desire to see Thing lose. The reality is that Thing won by 3 votes, so Thing should be the winner.

NO OVERTIME

no overtime.

I would vote for no overtime.

But I also didn't vote, so if you're allowing overtime, I'll vote for Ben.

Say a hockey game goes into overtime. That's free hockey!

I say go O.T.

No OT.

Sudden death in hockey only happens when the score is tied, not when both teams have statistically scored as many goals.

I vote no overtime.
I also vote Thok winner of the best comment award.

If it's a tie, then they should have a race, followed by an armwrestle. Best out of two wins.

A buzzer beater is still a win. I say let Ben Grimm advance.

overtime

No overtime. Ben won. Why does Barry deserve an extra chance?

No overtime. Ben won for three votes.

Sheesh... what kind of revoltin' development would overtime be?

I'm going to vote for overtime, as a completely biased Barry Allen fan.

No tie no overtime. The lumbering pile of rubble beats the blond guy in the flashy scarlet threads with the science degrees. Way ta go idol o' millions!

I'm voting overtime... just because i'm a huge barry fanboy...
If that doesn't work... best two out of threes.

Ben won, fair & square. 3 votes or 300, he still had more than Barry.

No overtime. Thing won fair and square.

No overtime. The Thing won by three votes, Barry ran into a brick wall.

This ain't the electoral college. Let the votes stand.

Didio already gave Barry a second chance... let the vote stand!

No Overtime! Ben Grimm wins!
Can Flash smoke a cigar in the shower?* I think not.
*See Marvel Two-In-One 60

Yeah, Ben Grimm wins! If that was a vote-to-vote TIE, there could be an overtime, but the Thing won by a small margin.

Best,
Hunter (Pedro Bouça)

I think you've got a clear mandate here, but in case there's a flurry at 10:59...no overtime unless it is an actual tie in # of votes.

Overtime, I didn't even know this was going on and I visit this site every day or two.

No overtime. A difference of three votes is a testament to both characters, but ultimately gives Thing the nod. Why mess with that?

Give it to Ben. (I voted for Flash, but fair is fair.)

I agree with most others. No tie no overtime.

No overtime, even in the face of armageddon.

Well said! The people have spoken, and they've said "It's clobbering time". The Thing won, fair is fair.

No tie, no overtime.

Not to mention the arguments that having overtime would open up. If you allow overtime with a close to 50% vote, then you could argue for it with 51%, etc.

I think that decides it. 254 is greater than 251. Thing wins. It sure wasn't clobbering time though.

I missed that this was going on but I agree with the decision not to go into overtime. I voted for Barry but this is a basketball tournament analogy and winning by a mere three points lead as time runs out is in the finest tradition of that competition.
