He's clearly a Black Lantern.

I too would wield the color of apathy. I'm thinking mauve, or puce. Or maybe a crushing gray, though I imagine a Gray Lantern's ring would be fueled by depression.

I like how there's a little mini-punchline halfway through and then an unexpected payoff at the end. Very fun.

If only Grant Morrison had come up with the idea: then Josh would allow himself to like it. And then he'd smack the kids for not liking it the right way...

Mauve is the universally recognised colour for danger. Apathy is more of a... really, I don't care.

I feel the same even though I'm excited for Blackest Night. "Who's gonna be this type of lantern?" Who's gonna be that type of lantern?" Who cares? Just sit back and enjoy and if it's good it's good. If not, well then you just got all hyped up and disappointed over nothing.
I felt the same way about the Skrulls in Secret Invasion too. "Who's a skrull?! Do you think ---- is a skrull?!" Well, we'll find out later won't we?

"I trusted your judgement" XD

Hahahahah....well done. That crack about the apathy lantern was awesome.

Joe, there's only one thing fanmen love more than speculating, and that's bitching in an argumentative fashion.

And you're right, Josh. I'd forgotten about Code: Mauve. Been a while since I traveled by TARDIS.

The colour of apathy is that murky purple-green you get when you mix all the plasticine together because you can't be bothered to put it away properly.

The color of apathy is gray. Or grey. Whichever. I don't care.

We picked a color. It will be revealed in the next comic.

@joshschr: Heh, nice.

"Oh, the misunderstandings! All those red alerts! All that dancing!"

Ha! I feel like I belong here. I hope the thread doesn't get hijacked by Doctor Who fans, but it does make me wonder how much fun a GL/DH crossover strip could be.

APATHY APATHY! That's our cry...A-P-A-t...er...whatever...

"If only Grant Morrison had come up with the idea:"

Except he wouldn't. That's the point.

Ambush Bug was the Mauve Lantern in his latest mini. Or he met one... Either way, better than any Red Lantern anyday.

...I now very much want a Green Lantern/Dr. Who crossover.

Thanks a LOT, Josh. Gonna have to work pretty hard to get that one out of my head.

Hate to break it to you, but the "Apathy Corps" (white) has been a running joke for quite some time now. They even made a symbol and oath.

In brightest day, in blackest night,
Not my problem, I'll be alright;
No cause you name is worth a fight,
Though if I'm bored, then yeah, I might.

Unless this is what you were referencing in the first place...

" If only Grant Morrison had come up with the idea: then Josh would allow himself to like it. And then he’d smack the kids for not liking it the right way… "

Most of the anti-Morrison sentiments seem to be a sickly yellowish-green shade of Envy in the Lantern Corps spectrum; jealousy that a different storytelling approach than one's personal favorite has popularity, and denial of any merits the writer has because of those sour grapes.

I truly believe in APATHY.

As far as the Green Lantern thing goes:

WHO BLOODY CARES!!!!!

;-)

funny comic, though i think it would've been fine ending after panel five.

but maybe i'm just saying that 'cause i want the focus to be more on what a terrible idea blackest night is.

"If only Grant Morrison had come up with the idea: then Josh would allow himself to like it. "

Didn't Alan Moore already come up with the idea?

What if I just don't like his writing? Does my opinion of everything have to relate back to Grant Morrison's level of popularity in online nerddom? "My word, Eustace, this rhubarb pie just isn't up to the standards of G-Mo's rhubarb pie, I do declare!"

Advisor: Sir the world is coming to an end.

Leader of the neutral planet: Tell my wife I said "Hello"

Their color is beige.

Except he wouldn’t. That’s the point.

Except when he did in Flash.
