You know, as a screenwriter I found some of the terms in the Marvel contract to be slightly horrifying, but at this point in my career I'd probably take them, especially for around $100k a year on a work-for hire job.

I really need to finish my outline for the screenplays for my proposed X-Men sequels at some point, I got distracted by the two screenplays I was working on last year.

First, good luck to Mr. Reed with this project!

Second, I remember the Forgotten Villains (isn't that a contradiction? ;) ) I actually have that issue of DC Comics Presents. Ahh, those were good days, when you could buy anything on the stands and almost always enjoy it. Their whole concept behind them was to bring back a whole bunch of forgotten DC heroes (and their enemies) and was gimmicky as heck, but who cares, it was FUN!! (That's why, although I'm not entirely happy with the Brave And The Bold show, I AM glad somebody is reintroducing DC's characters so kids today can enjoy them! (Since the comics are not doing it...)

As for Montoya as The Question, my points have already been made above, so I'll only mention that the art of her above makes her look like a character from "Chicago." "And aaaal thaaat Jaaaaaz!" :p

Awesome new feature!

As much as I scour the comics internet collective, i always seem to miss a few of the cool tidbits, so I'm glad there's this coumn to now help me out. And the original name was cooler, you could even abbreviate it to SIDDFOTI, it'd be an instant household brand name!

Yeah, I'm really not a big fan of Renee Montoya, an excellent, human, police character, transforming into a new Question at the loss of the cooler, better, original Question, and I haven't been impressed with how she's been used in the role so far, but I'm willing to give it a look and see if it works. And if it doesn't, oh well, everything old will be new again in five years anyway.

Someone at Newsarama gave a great description of the new Question: One average uninspired character for the price of two great ones.

My biggest problem with the Montoya question is twofold.

First, she has no real politics or philosophy it seems. She just seems to be a regular street level superheroine. Even though no one's done a good job with recreating Steve Ditko's original Question philosophy, either because they are mentally incapable of writing from a conservative viewpoint, they find such politics too abhorrent to write sympathetically, or both, most writers at least give the Question SOME overarching philosophy and political worldview to motivate him. For example O'Neil did a total 180 in Question's philosophy and politics, but still made him very much motivated by his views on such matters, even if they were now different than the ones Ditko originally gave him. Rorshach was very politically and philosophically driven. JLU cartoon went a different direction from Ditko and O'Neil, one I didn't like, but they still gave him a politically and philosophically driven motivation. Montoya Question is just really apolitical, a typical martial arts nonpowered superheroine. DC has a ton of these.

Second, DC has this annoying habit or making it seem really easy for anyone to become a world-class martial artist overnight. For example Bruce Wayne trains Harvey Dent for like a month or two in One Year Later and suddenly he's good enough to be a world-class hand-to-hand combatant and singlehandedly control and suppress all crime in Gotham? When previously we were told that it was a job so big you need a guy like Batman with a lifetime of training to accomplish such a goal? Mia is a prostitute who hangs out with Ollie for maybe a year in comic book time and she can decide on a whim to be a crimefighter and is magically good enough to play in the big leagues? Green Arrow sits on an island with some old martial arts master during OYL and is suddenly good enough to compete against Deathstroke. Now supposedly Montoya, who was probably an above-average but not especially remarkable hand-to-hand combatant in previous depictions is now a martial arts badass too? I know it's all about suspending disbelief, but by making it so easy to achieve such proficiency dilutes how special such a skill set is in the DC universe.

Just finished reading BIG NUMBERS # 3 (the unpublished "lost" issue).

Somebody should give "GLYCON" a medal for posting this on the net.
Kudos to Mr. Moore for allowing it to happen.

Maybe now he'll find another artist to complete the series, if the original Bill Sienkiewicz still doesn't want to re-unite to finish the magnum opus.

"As we know, it’s directed by Julie Taymor, who helmed Across the Universe, one of my favorite films of this decade, and it’s got music by Bono, so it should be fun."

We must have very different definitions of "fun".

'Turn Off The Dark' is a really dumb subtitle.

Oh, I quite like this new feature. It reminds me of Moriarty's Morning Reads at <a href="http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/2008-12-6-motion-captured" rel="nofollow">HitFix</a>. Only, um, on a Sunday instead of a weekday. And about comics instead of movies. But otherwise...

I haven't hit the latest Remake/Remodel thread, but <a href="http://freakangels.com/whitechapel/search.php?PostBackAction=Search&Keywords=REMAKE%2F&Type=Topics" rel="nofollow">here</a>'s the archive of all the threads thus far.

Cully Hamner's Montoya/Question design is fantastic. I especially like the short hair. Good stuff. I wonder if the back-up features will get collected at any point or if they'll be treated like back matter and only be available in the floppies.

Andy "Lunar" Lanning is the best of those nicknames, for sure. I hope Marvel runs with that. But, then, what would they call Danny Abnett?

And, yeah, <i>Dollhouse</i> has turned a corner creatively. Finally. Three good episodes in a row. Hope they can keep the trend going. The first four were wildly uneven.

Thanks for these. Very awesome.

Im loving Dollhouse. There is the occasional hiccup and such, but I can't complain about anything that's so entertaining. Aside from the slow first episode, they have all been very exciting and compelling.
