Let’s Take a Look at the Final Match-Up!

Here’s the updated bracket (click on it to enlarge)…

Feel free to make your predictions here!

The voting will begin at 10pm Sunday so that our tournament will end roughly the same time as the NCAA tournament on April 6th. Again, I will not be making the results/vote totals public until the votes are done tallied!

I’ll be voting for Spidey….but it’ll be a huge shock if Bats doesn’t win.

Well, there’s nothing Spiderman could throw at Batsy that he couldn’t handle. I mean, the guy’s beaten a Green Lantern, the master of the Anti-Life Equation (a major threat to Superman), Dr Doom, and The Fastest Man Alive (and we’re talking lightspeed here). There is no way I’m not voting for Batman after all that. Spiderman’s only tough competition was Thor, and I have absolutely no idea how he won that one.

Go Spidey!

Also, those are two good comics!

Batman wins. No more, no less. Hands Spidey’s ass to shut his yapping.

Geez, Batman fans can get pretty hostile, can’t they?

Spider-Man is my favorite character, and I hope he loses, because that’s the way Stan would have wrote it. The Parker Luck wouldn’t let him win a popularity contest! Let’s all vote for Batman and then get Mark Waid to write Spidey’s reaction into an upcoming issue.

Based on the voting patterns, it should be Batman over Spider-Man 650-450.

Nah, Stan would have written it as Spidey wins the fight, but no one’s around to see it, the pictures he took of it get overexposed, and Peter misses out on a job interview at Wayne Enterprises while Dick Grayson makes time with Liz Allen AND Betty Brant.

Michael wins this round.

Funny. I was just thinking how disappointed I was with both of them. My aversion to Carnage probably has a lot to do with it.

I agree, except for Dick making time with both of the girls. Dick’s a one-woman guy, or at least he is if he’s being written right. So let’s say Liz & Betty were fighting over him, ok?

Seriously… is there anyone out there who didn’t think it would end with these two?

This has been fun, even if the final two were pretty predictable.

So Bats is gonna win.

AND next year (if this is annual), you should put these two head-to-head in the first round (and those in the elite 8 as well), so maybe others will rise to the top

Remember the year that the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs, both under their respective curses, nearly went to the World Series head to head? And then they both lost out and it was the Yankees versus the Marlins and the ratings tanked for the World Series because honestly, there was nothing to interest people?

Just checking if anybody remembers that. No real reason.

Gary, the 2003 World Series had an 18% INCREASE over the previous year’s ratings.

Sure, Cinderella stories are popular, but so are the big names (to wit, if this tournament was treated like networks treat the World Series, they would be absolutely ECSTATIC over the idea of Batman and Spider-Man facing off).

Oh, sorry Spidey, you’re just so not gonna win XD I mean, Wally couldn’t pull it with Speedforce.org backing him up, so there’s actually no fight here. Like someone said in the post announcing the last four, the actual battle was between Flash and Batman.
But do put up a good fight, Peter :D Though I’m not gonna help you with it, I’m too much of a Batfan.

You know, I was typing that, and had a nagging feeling I should go and check real numbers instead of relying on vague memories of possible opinions. Mea culpa.

Spidey at least had an Uncle and Aunt to raise him. What did Bruce ever have? Huh? A butler and a billion dollars? So what! It was rough. Spidey has radioactive inducing powers that give him super strength, agility and keen senses..pshh…Utility belt bro!!! ‘Nuff said. Bats owns Petey. Besides the fact that Heath Ledger as nurse attire Joker is way > than Tobey’s Black Suit spidey’ and that street dance routine.

At Gary:
I remember that, I’m a huge Marlins fan!

And Spidey FTW! Spidey would mop the floor with Bats. Bats may have gadgets and be a pretty tough fighter, but he’s just a man. People seem to forget that Peter’s a genius. So no advantage for Bats there. All Pete would need to do is use his spider sense and superior speed and strength, and let’s face it, one hit could kill (or at least incapacitate) Bats.

It’s interesting looking at those two covers side-by-side. They’re pretty similar, but the one on the left has those huge eyes for Spidey and an . . . interesting take on anatomy for their legs.

I’ve been wrong about plenty of matches on the way, but I’ve always been pretty sure Bats would win it all. We shall see.
