The “Let’s Rebuild Len Wein’s Comic Collection” Project is Up!

So head here and check it out!

It’s a good cause and it is not exactly asking a lot!

Great initiative. I can´t imagine how sad i would be if the same happened to me.

Um, shouldn’t people interested in a project try to get the dude a house so he has a place to KEEP his comics before giving him a comic collection? Is this something he even asked for?

I would assume that he has some sort of insurance that will assist with the general, day to day possessions that were affected. What this project is doing, by contrast, is giving his fans a project that will compensate for the loss of items that may not have a lot of intrinsic value, but stand as a record of the work he achieved in the field.

I think I’ve got some of the offbeat stuff…

@Generalzod33:

Mark Evanier, the guy who’s managing this project to rebuild Wein’s comics collection, is a friend of Len Wein and has been in touch with him throughout this period.

Over the past few days and weeks on his blog, Evanier has noted that Wein’s insurance will see that the house is eventually rebuilt, that Wein and his family have made arrangements for a rental property to live in for the time being, and that Wein has okayed this project to gather comics on his behalf.

Len Wein may not have asked for this effort, but he hasn’t asked for other sorts of assistance either. If he does, then I’m sure the comics community will rally to his aid as it has before for other creators afflicted by tragedy and bad luck. But if indeed Wein’s immediate needs are met, then this project is certainly a meritorious one.

It says right in the post -

“Insurance will fix the house but many things, including his comics, were not covered.”
