Mark Evanier has the sad news here.
I was always a fan of Estrada, either as an inker or a penciler. He will be missed.

Very sad news to hear. Ric Estrada’s most enduring legacy to the superhero genre will likely be Power Girl, whom he helped bring to life along with Gerry Conway and Wally Wood for the 1970′s All-Star Comics revival. Like my own parents, Ric was a Cuban immigrant. This seemingly trivial fact helped me form a lasting bond with his work. I shall greatly miss Ric and extend my best wishes to his family.

Thank you Joe. We’re rallying together to support each other in the wake of his passing. Many of us are involved, on some level, in a movie commemorating Ric’s life – http://ricestradamovie.info . I hope it helps turn the trivial beginnings of that bond you felt with his work into a much stronger sense of friendship with him.
