Yup, your review made me happy because these kind of “low key” romances are very pleasurable but don’t get much attention because most yaoi is so outrageous on some level.

Looks like we both came away with very similar impressions of this one.

I really hope we get more stories like this from DMP in future. It doesn’t look much like the other DokiDoki titles are going to be as warm and fuzzy as this one was, unfortunately.

*nods* You know I didn’t think twice about it, which doesn’t say much for me, I’ll admit. I’m so used to that convention in manga (that pudgy children grown into thin and therefore “attractive” adults) that it doesn’t make an impression on me. I really need to watch out for that sort of stuff (particularly in yaoi *sigh*).

This is a fantastic review, and the book sounds genuinely enjoyable, though I admit I always bristle at the implication (made by the author not by you) that characters have to be thin before they can be attractive enough to be loved. I used to get angry about HP fanfic writers who always had to send Neville Longbottom to the gym before they’d let anyone fall for him. It just irks me.

Tom, yeah, that is basically true of a lot of “yaoi” or comics about male/male relationships written by women for women. However, there are a lot of “pretty” men in the world, I don’t think he looks too girlish (seriously, compared to some yaoi art he’s almost masculine! )
