What Will Be the Captain America News Tomorrow?

Marvel is announcing SOME sort of major Captain America news tomorrow, news that will presumably tie in with Captain America #600 (which retailers are allowed to sell tomorrow rather than Wednesday) and Reborn #1.

So, what do you think the news will be?

“From the ashes, a new C.A. (Phoenix) will be reborn!!!!”

zzzzzzzzzzz

Rebirth? Isn’t that a DC series?

Steve is really Red Hulk

Nah, Red Hulk will just become the new Red, White, and Blue Hulk to replace Captain America.

He’s also Barack Obama.

Obama becomes the new Capt America….

My bigger question would be, is there any possible way for me to avoid finding out, since I buy Captain America via hardcovers? Even if I had stayed offline for, like, a year, the title to the last arc “The DEATH OF CAPTAIN AMERICA” might have been a bit of a give-away. Don’t even get me started on describing what happens in the series to other people without spoiling anything.

I’m guessing they’ll be announcing something related to the 2011 Captain America movie. If it’s not that, I can’t imagine they’ll get the publicity they seem to think they’re going to get.

Either “Steve from the comics is back” or “Steve from the movie has been cast.”

new alternate universe title starring girl bucky lol

is it that they’re finally releasing Captain America: White? #0 came out an entire year ago.

Wasn’t there a Kyle Baker ad that hinted at the black Capt. America was coming back? I wouldn’t put it passed Marvel to think “Black President+Black Capt. America=Media Coverage!”

I’m crossing my fingers for either Black cap…

or Heroes Reborn Cap!!!! YEAH!!!!!!! Suprise- turns out you should have paid more attention to Onslaught Reborn, suckahs! Do it, Bru.

I don’t mind if it’s the return of the black Captain America, I actually think that would be cool as I did like the character, but I do NOT want the movie Cap to be black. Not if he’s gonna be Steve Rogers. There’s no need for that. They have a black Nick Fury, they could have the Falcon. No need to change Steve.

It turns out Steve Rogers didn’t die. He was kept in status by the Russians and thawed out to perform risky assassinations every once in a while.

If it isn’t the confirmation that Rogers is coming back, I doubt I’ll care.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying only Steve can be Cap. But Captain America should be *more* than just a hero. He should be inspiring… very few comics characters could fill his boots. Cyber Bucky is an interesting character, but he’s just not as inspiring. Rogers needs to come back so the healing of “Dark Marvel” can begin, and Bucky can find himself his own identity.

will smith as cap
i will loose my shit

Man, if they had Josiah X become Captain American that would be awesome. Now if they got Priest to write it too I’d be too excited for words.

It’s getting to the point where I really, *really* want the news to be that Will Smith is playing Steve Rogers in the Captain America movie, just to see the looks on half of the comic fans’ faces.

Cap will be a homeless bisexual transgendered Inuit with cerecbral palsy who also suffers from seasonal affective disorder.

Agreed Grant. And also because: it would make the movie’s story a better one.
The story potential for a black Captain America in WW2 is terrific. It doesn’t take anything away from the original stories quality it only enhances it with a bit of the X-Men’s “fighting for a world that fears and hates them” to the Cap legend. It’s good. The way you know it’s good is that the only reason fanboys hate the idea is: “I’M NOT RASCIST, BUT THAT WOULD BE NOT WHAT I’M USED TOO”

“Cap will be a homeless bisexual transgendered Inuit with cerecbral palsy who also suffers from seasonal affective disorder.”

Again? Seriously? Sheesh……….

steve rogers consciousness have been alive all this time in the cosmic cube. it puts itself in the near catatonic body of isiah bradley. isiah becomes cap. this will allow marvel to introduce will smith as captain america.

According to NY Daily News this morning:

Captain America is making a miraculous recovery.

Two years after Marvel Comics knocked off its famous star-spangled superhero, he’s gonna be back and better than ever.

“The original Captain America is finally coming back,” Marvel Comics editor in chief Joe Quesada told the Daily News. “We’ve been patiently planning for this moment for 21/2 years.”

Captain America will return next month in a five-comic book series, “Captain America Reborn.”

The dramatic return is coming not a moment too soon for fans of the superhero and his alter ego, Steve Rogers.

Marvel writer Ed Brubaker was stunned at the global reaction when Captain America was gunned down on the steps of a courthouse.

“It was crazy,” said Brubaker. “I had shock jocks calling me up at 5:30 in the morning – they got my home number somehow – and they were like, ‘Ed, tell us it’s not true, tell us Captain America is not dead.’”

It’s been 68 years since creators Joe Simon and Jack Kirby introduced Rogers – a scrawny kid who is injected with a “Super Soldier” serum to fight the Nazis – to an adoring fan base.

Captain America has appeared in more than 210 million comics in 75 countries since then, and a big-budget movie is scheduled for 2011.

“He’s a pop culture icon,” said Bryan Hitch, artist for “Captain America Reborn.”

“[Captain America] at heart is a bit of an old-fashioned guy – he looks like Brad Pitt, but smells like your granddad.”

Death in comics, of course, is almost never as final as it is in real life.

Marvel’s archrival, DC Comics, killed Superman in 1993, only to bring him back a year later.

There’s still no word about how creators plan to bring Captain America back to life.

One thing’s for sure – it’ll definitely be a hit.

“Consumers are responding to it like crazy,” said Gerry Gladston, co-owner of Midtown Comics in Manhattan. “They don’t feel like it’s a stunt.”
