I disagree with your Captain Britain complaint. IMHO, an annual should be seen as an extra issue in the ongoing, not a separate one-shot. The contents should have been mentioned in the recap page, but it should be safe for the writer to assume that someone reading the regular series will have read the annual.

I agree that Red Robin isn't bad, but the idea of it just doesn't work for me. First of all, Tim's "graduation" doesn't ring true; when Dick outgrew Robin, he went out and got a costume and identity that didn't serve as a reminder of his previous position. Tim picks up a costume that just adds a colour to his previous moniker. Not much of a progression by way of rebranding.

And, yeah, maybe it was too much Dixon Robin and David Robin in YJ, but Tim as grim hero just doesn't work. I'd much rather read him as the computer-savvy high school senior he could be rather than the globetrotting obsessed avenger he is. Plus, it's basically written implying he didn't believe Superman that Batman was killed more or less in front of his eyes. Sure, WE know Clark's wrong on this one - even if Tim doesn't have a hope of finding Bruce other than time travel - but Tim not believing Superman just seems weird.

I guess they'll be moving into a different plot with issue two. Some hints of a status quo sure would be nice, since right now this reads like a miniseries rather than an ongoing.

Agree about Incognito. It's still at the top of my Pull-list.....but it's nowhere near the level Criminal was at.

I am one of the few that do not generally enjoy Grant Morrison's work. But I have to admit I really enjoyed the first issue of Batman and Robin. We all know that eventually Bruce Wayne will return to re-take the mantle but in the meantime observing Dick Grayson try to fill his boots while also mentoring the new Robin should be a lot of fun. For my own personal enjoyment I hope Morrison restrains himself from his more off the wall ideas, but I'll be reading either way.

I was also aware of how retarded Dead@17: Afterbirth is. I saw that same post on the ISB.
But don't worry, I won't butt in on your man-crush.

I agree with you that the premise for Red Robin is really good but it's not really explained why he decides to proceed this way to search for Bruce. Tim plans to show his picture throughout Europe hoping that someone has seen him?

I also agree that Incognito doesn't come close to the masterpiece that is Sleeper, but I think it holds up well compared to Criminal.
