A Year of Cool Comic Book Moments - Day 171
Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the moments posted so far!
Today continues a multi-part look at perhaps the most classic Hitman story ever.
Enjoy!
Hitman #14 (by Garth Ennis and John McCrea) opens where #13 left off - the group of friends/assassins are surrounded by zombie sea life.
Enjoy...

"The" moment here for me is either Hacken begging for his hand to be cut off or him actually shooting his hand after the fact.
Hacken was a hilariously weird character.

But wait until he finds out that he didn't even need to do that.
he he he.
That Ennis guy, has SUCH a wicked evil sense of humour.
Yesiree, he does.

He clubbed a baby seal.

I've been interested in Hitman before, but now I NEED to read this series. A cursory amazon search reveals a "Hitman Vol 1: Rage in Arkham" available next month. Excellent.

This whole two-issue sequence made my top ten best fight scenes during that poll. This arc is gold.

The moment for me is the look on his face as he wraps the belt around his blood stump.

I remember as a young lad reading about this arc in Wizard - they misprinted and said part one of six.
My friends and I marveled that Ennis would do six issues of zombie animals.
Back before Zombies were huge, and that six issues was the standard arc size.
I read the first part... I was happy it was only two parts.
That should be out now.

The bit I love about this story is that Ennis clearly crafted it so as to include blatant scenes of seals being clubbed!
Twisted genius...

I think DC is re-releasing the old trades since they are finally putting the rest of the series out after, oh what is it now, 10 years?
This two-parter is by far one of the best stories of the entire run, and that's saying something in this series.

Well, now I know what to order along with Brian's book in order to get my next Amazon order over $30.

"God, when they look up at you with those big, sad eyes."
Possibly the high point of Ennis' career. Masterful.
