I think if the series does decently they'll definitely collect it along with the first four stories. I have no idea what "decent" means in this business anymore, I haven't done a color comic from one of the front of the catalog companies in ages. My fingers are crossed, of course I'd like to see a full collection, and a sequel series. We'll see what happens.

Maybe because he actually gets paid for the Marvel stuff, and Ben Templesmith is blatantly rather more busy now than he was when Fell was semi-regular? just a wild stab in the dark, you know.

Templesmith has said he's just waiting for the Fell scripts to draw.

2) Beasts of Burden is a 4-issue limited series, all new, done-in-one stories, continuing from the DHC anthologies. You don’t need to have read the first 4 short stories to understand the series, we cover what you need to know, and there’s a little set-up bit in the inside front cover of the first issue. Animals fight evil. You’re caught up.

Any chance the anthology stories will get put under one cover at any point?

They were really, really good.

1) Greg -- Thanks fort mentioning the book, it's appreciated.

3) There really is a Burden Hill, in NJ, although the series is not set there. But, yeah, it's a pun, and they can misfire. It's an okay title, though, I think.

Thanks again for discussing the series.

I enjoyed The Waiting Place. It was fun, lo-fi high school/college melodrama. Its setting in the frozen north of America gives it a bit of a tastier flavour than its Orange County/90210 colleagues. I prefer McKeever's Mary Jane work, but The Waiting Place is kind of his prototypical work.

The Fixer is very good. It's much more narrow in focus than Safe Area Goradze, centered around one of Sacco's contacts. It's a neat look at identity in wartime.

Perhaps this version has more stuff in it than the hardcover I read? Because that was called The Fixer and Other Stories, but it didn't have the stuff from Safe Area Goradze in it, so I'm not sure this is the complete Bosnian tales.

David: I know he gets paid for the Marvel stuff, and I'm sure he gets truckloads, so I don't really fault him for it. I just have foolish dreams where people get paid buckets for stuff that's actually good. I know, it's insane!!!!!

FGJ: The solicit for Beasts of Burden claims it's a new story, or at least it's heavily implied.

Brad: Picking on the solicitation texts is all I have left in my cold, lonely life. Please don't take it away from me!!!!!

Oh, Warren Ellis. Why do we love you when you continually give us Ultimate Comics Armor War (page 17) yet no more Fell? And yet we do. Why, Warren Ellis, WHY????

Maybe because he actually gets paid for the Marvel stuff, and Ben Templesmith is blatantly rather more busy now than he was when Fell was semi-regular? just a wild stab in the dark, you know.

That Blackhawk mini is fantastic, and has some really lovely pre-computer Steve Oliff colours. So I heartily recommend that trade.

JMS claims he's actually going to finish The Twelve now that he's leaving Thor since he realized he can't participate in a crossover.

The again, Warren Ellis claimed he was actually going to start writing Fell and Desolation Jones again after his old computer crashed and that still hasn't happened, so who knows if JMS can be held to his word either?

but shouldn’t DC wait until they see how JMS’s “Red Circle” event does at the box office before greenlighting series spinning out of them? Wouldn’t that be wise? Oh, wait – it’s DC!

All of us waiting for The Twelve to end need something to look forward to.

It's never going to end is it?

And it will look fan-freakin’-tastic, unless for some reason you don’t like Jill Thompson. And you’re not that dim-witted, are you? ARE YOU????

These are the characters from the old (few years) horror anthologies Dark Horse used to do yeah?

Those were the best parts of those books - even in the awesome one's, those stories still stood out.

Anyone know if this is a new story or a reprint?

I hope it's a new story, and then we get a reprint with the old one's and the new one... that'd rock my socks.

I never understand why you pick on the hyperbole in Marvel and DC's solicits, especially when you get literal on them. Of course, I tend to gloss over it whenever I see it, so maybe I'm too tolerant of it. I don't know, I expect it to lack perspective and sense.

"“this” should be “these” in the middle sentence."

It could be referring to the METHOD whereby Wayne faced the ladies. Like if he was wearing a funny mask he could say "I've never faced ladies like THIS before." I mean it isn't referring to that, but it could be.
