By the way, another great and thoroughly enjoyable source of Biukovic’s work is contained a collection of his earlier collaborations with Macan, called “Citati” (? I think). Unfortunately, its pretty hard to find outside of Croatia…

The two Grendel Tales stories that he did were the highlight of the series for me. Loved both of those stories.

A great artist, sorely missed. I read his Star Wars work when it came out, and remember being shocked when I heard of his death.

(His Star Wars art included here is from the adaptation of Timothy Zahn’s The Last Command novel, though.)

Brian, thanks for posting this.
It’s probably my fault, cause I didn’t provide you some scans, but I think Grendel Tales is his most outstanding work. Folks, do check out this book. Eddy and Darko Macan (who wrote it) did a brilliant work there, probably the best in their careers, along with short story ‘ A prayer to the sun’ published in Vertigo’s anthology ‘Weird War Tales’

Symbolical, Grendel Tales was his first American work, for which he received Russ Manning Award for the best newcomer, while ‘A prayer to the sun’ was his last work, for which he and Darko were nominated for Eisner Award for the best short story.
