A Year of Cool Comic Book Moments - Day 186
Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the moments posted so far!
Today, we see how Garth Ennis and John McCrea think you should summon Catwoman.
Enjoy!
In Hitman #15, a killer demon of sorts who the protaginst of Hitman, Tommy Monaghan, fought earlier in the series has returned and all Tommy knows is that Catwoman is somehow involved.
So he comes up with a plan to get her attention...

The last page would be "the" moment here - pure, twisted hilarity.

Like I said the last time you posted a Hitman piece, I have GOT to get the trade paperback one of these days....

The nice thing about that particular trade is that not only it features The Demon Entrigan, but it also ties up a loose plot line from Ennis and McCrea's The Demon run pre-HITMAN.
Get it, and enjoy it.

Do you think that's where David Goyer got the idea for the improvised Batsignal in Begins?

...As a cat owner and a cat lover, I'm appalled and offended.

Truly, the imaginary death of an imaginary cat should haunt us all.

Hey, they do make a point of saying that the cat was already dead when Tommy found it. It's the Dog-lovers that should be up in arms over the scariest superhero in Gotham... Dogwelder!!!

Do they get Catwoman's attention? I'd like to see what she thinks of the cat signal.

It DOES get her attention, and I believe her first comment is something like "that cat better have been dead when you got it."

Catwoman pretty much shows up the next issue, kinda pissed off, and asks if that cat was dead when they first found it.

Gah! Beat!
I shouldn't have let this page hang, or at least refreshed before posting a reply.

And there's like, maybe ONE or TWO trades of Hitman and they aren't in print anymore.
A crime, really.

" …As a cat owner and a cat lover, I’m appalled and offended. "
I'm a cat owner and lover too, and I was at first, but then I realized that it was ( as Omar put it ) the imaginary death of an imaginary cat, then I started laughing hysterically at its audacity.

There's another great moment in the next issue where Nat and Tommy talk about how hot Catwoman is. I don't want to spoil it, but it was a John McCrea visual joke that made me laugh out loud.

I also own a cat, and would be appalled, but I know mine would eat me if he had half a chance, so that colors me reaction a lot.

Hilarious. Garth Ennis really doesn't like cats.
I never noticed this before, but Ennis got the cat's tail backwards.

"And there’s like, maybe ONE or TWO trades of Hitman and they aren’t in print anymore."
There are five. I'm not sure whether any of the original versions are still technically in print, but this one (#4, Ace of Killers) has always been easy to find.
And they just republished Volume 1 with a new title. It also claimed it was going to have Hitman 1000000, which features the great "unkillable cat" concept.
