Yeah, but the measure of success is hitting a hundred episodes so that you get syndication - then that baby apparently pays for life.

I don't have a dog in this hunt. I think Ryan Reynolds is fine, but I've never paid to see a movie he was in, nor have I seen an episode of his TV series.

However ....

According to IMDB, "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" ran 81 episodes. That is not a smash hit, but having a network TV show run four years is an achievement. It would be the highlight of the resume for a lot of people who actually earn a living in the entertainment business.

No idea why Reynolds is so popular with the comic book crowd. His sit com was poor and his films have been mostly downright horrible. The last thing I've seen him in, Adventureland, was an unoriginal and shaky construct held up only by the weak pull of nostalgia. IMHO Nathan Fillon would make a pretty good Guy Gardner.

Yeah. When I first heard Nathon Fillon's name attached to Green Lantern I assumed he'd be Guy Gardner - or maybe a villain. I don't know any GL villains - except for All Star Batman and Robin (the boy wonder)

He turned Van Wilder into the only watchable National Lampoon movie since... what? Vacation? And I thought he was great as Berg in the best "traditional" sitcom of the last, like, dozen years, in Two Guys & a Girl. And you're going to laugh at me, but I really liked him in Definitely, Maybe. And the Nines. And a lot of other stuff.

Just Friends is a pile of shit, though, I'll give you that. But the reaction shots...!

I’d rather see him as the Flash, but I’ll watch Ryan Reynolds in anything, so I’m in.

Why?
What has he been in that was actually worth watching?
I use him as I used Freddie Prinze Jr - if he appears in it, you know it's shit, or they would have cast someone better.

I was pulling for Timberlake. I think he could pull off the swaggering fighter jock fearless test pilot stuff without coming across as a dick. A bit young, though, as my image of Hal is always with the grey temples. I started reading comics in the 60s, and most comic book characters either felt like me, or they felt like my dad. Hal was definitely in the Dad camp.

Reynolds certainly looks like the post-Neal Adams Hal.

And there is only one man alive who can play Guy Gardner: John Cena.

Assuming they don't also cast Ryan Reynolds as the Flash, I would go instead for Neil Patrick Harris, who voiced the character in the New Frontier cartoon, and is made of win and awesome.

I can see it. Reynolds is a good actor, likeable but smarmy, just like Hal. Question for the panel, though - who's gonna play Pieface? (AND DON'T TELL ME PIEFACE ISN'T IN THE MOVIE!)

Man, I think Ryan Reynolds is pretty perfect. He mostly gets stuck with cocky roles, but he's a hell of an actor beyond that. You should his intensity in the Amityville Horror remake, the movie's ho-hum, but he's the best thing in it. He also plays three distinct and emotional roles in a small movie called The Nines. The dude can handle it. I may be one of the few people who was stoked about the idea.
