Weird Shipping Schedule for Marvel

Next week, the following new Marvel books are due in comic book stores…
ALL NEW SAVAGE SHE-HULK #4 $3.99
CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI 13 #15 $2.99
DEADPOOL SUICIDE KINGS #4 $3.99
GUARDIANS OF GALAXY #16 $2.99
NOVA #27 $2.99
Hmmm…I wonder how many Marvel books will ship in TWO weeks?
Seriously, what’s up with Marvel’s bizarre shipping schedule? Is it simply a matter of “When books are delayed, we basically have to ship them whenever they become ready to ship because it just does not make sense for us, cost-wise, to hold off on shipping it”? Because that’s the only thing I can think of that would make sense for Marvel to ship eighteen books this week and five next week (and lord knows how gigantic August 5th is going to be).
EDITED TO ADD: Yeah, apparently it is Diamond Comics who dropped the ball here – BIG TIME. A lot of Marvel books are out next week. Diamond usually doesn’t mess up this badly (a book here, a book there, sure, but not THIS bad – they’re off by, like, 10 titles!).

mmm, look at this:

I think there’s an error with the diamond list.
It has been said that amazing #600 is in stores newxt week and it seems strange that all these books have been delayed…

Yeah, the Diamond list is messed up, there’s a decent number of major-ish Marvel releases next week – ASM 600, Dark Wolverine, Hulk 600, Immortal Weapons, Dark Reign: Fantastic Four, X-Force…

That’s hilarious. Wouldn’t affect me either way, I get all my books shipped to me monthly.

There’s no way in hell that Diamond list is right. The day I only buy a single Marvel book my head might explode from incomprehension.
Anyway, the final list for next week will be available today, so we’ll know soon enough.

I get the sense that Marvel’s online catalog isn’t as current as Diamond’s site. Marvel still has Marvel Apes: Prime 8 (YES, I want to read that) as shipping in June; Diamond hasn’t relisted it yet.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, say, Hulk #600 doesn’t come out next week…but I will be PO’d given that Hulk ships extremely intermittently anyway.

Dont trust any shipping list before the final comes out friday/saturday from diamond, and even then dont trust that.

The upcoming releases list is not final, and frequently incorrect. Marvel’s site is also wrong a lot, but in this case I’m way more inclined to trust previous, official shipping updates than an estimated list, from Diamond or not.

What preliminary list(s) DO people find reliable? I use Graham Crackers’, which I think usually goes up Thursday night; it’s generally spot-on with regard to Marvel & DC, & probably around 75 percent accurate as far as the indies go.

David, you’re right that Diamond’s preliminary list is often wrong… just not about Marvel or DC’s books. Smaller publishers, yes, but I’ve rarely noticed any drastic changes to Marvel and DC’s output. I could be wrong, thouhg — and would welcome being wrong this week, because we at CBR need books to review, dammit!

That is funny. But then, the only Marvel book I’m buying is CAPTAIN AMERICA, so I’m not all that bothered.

Midtown’s shipping list has MANY more Marvel books for next week including Amazing Spider-Man #600 and Hulk #600.

I’ve to say that this 5 issue list probably has more titles I’m buying on it then the 18-issue list had.

23 comics from one company in one week? 5 weeks this month. 5 x 23 = 115. Sheesh!

Wow, yet two other 600 issues in the same season. I mean, really, what are the odds of that happening… considering maybe one is actually CLOSE to an 600 issue. I think I’ll go find the Hulk one, they didn’t manage to mess that book up.

It doesn’t work out to the same number every week, Alan. Marvel and DC like to cram some weeks with books, particularly the last couple weeks of the month. And since this is a five-Wednesday month, they’re actually shipping fewer books per week than usual.

22 books, actually, since I now notice I failed to remove the Iron Man reprint. Still, the point is, way more than 5.
