You know, I know exactly how Marissa felt.

I was hunting all over (e-bay included) for a Savage Dragon # 0 (a reprint from the IMAGE 10th anniv. hardcover) and finally had to order it from the SD official website.

AND what DO you KNOW? The little bugger gets REPRINTED in Savage Dragon # 150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

D’OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chew by John Layman and Rob Guillory. A cop can read a food’s past by eating it. He gets recruited by the FDA (the most powerful government agency in this world, where chicken has been banned because of flu fears) and has to eat body parts to solve crimes. Issue #2 just came out a few weeks ago. It’s a twisted little comic.

I’m certainly glad it’s apparently doing extremely well, but it’s kind of odd. It’s a good book, but it’s still strange. This is why no one can predict the marketplace.

that is freaking hilarious

That’s so great. I went to three comic book shops trying to find Chew, and it was all sold out. Same with the second printing, which also sold out. Gah! And issue #2 sold out too. Why the hell didn’t Image just print twice as many to begin with?

Ann Thrope? A play on misanthrope? (“MIss Ann Thrope?”) Clever wordplay there.
