Not a fair contest, since if Jimmy has any of the New God juju remaining inside him from Countdown, he can turn into something with a camel-like hump, thus rendering the survival test moot.

Even without said Fourth World dakka, Jimmy's got an advantage over Aquaman, who dies if he's out of water for more than an hour at a time.

that's an awesome neal adams cover. it just pains me that this guy with so much talent is not working in comic books NOW.

Ah, but suppose the water Superdick is holding is salt water? Then Aquaman's the clear winner.

Only ONE hanger-on may have the privilege of basking in Superman's aura of non-suck. All others shall PERISH!

God bless Superdickery.com. They were all before my time, but DC's beginning to reprint that era in the Showcase editions. Man, that Kal-El was a bastard.

Would ANYONE choose Aquaman?

In a perfect world, Superman then pours the water onto the sands, moons them, and flies off to watch them perish from a distance.

This is actually a horrific dilemma, because Jimmy Olsen and Aquaman are my two favorite DC characters. Excluding Elongated Man and Batman, of course.

if this was not one of those stories where big blue was a dick he would figure some way to save both jimmy and aquaman by using his powers somehow. to find water. but since it is one of those i would say superman would save jimmy . for supermans code is try not to harm humans. aqua man superman would figure he would understand supes saving jimmy

It occurs to me that an author like Garth Ennis or Warren Ellis would do great writing a Superdick character, who saves the world during the day and needlessly tortures his loved ones in his free time.

I love that . . .
(1) it's not just water, but iced water, really amping up the torturing those in a hot desert aspect by using ICE-COLD water, and . . .
(2) Supes is carelessly spilling some of the precious liquid.
Also, judging by bones and skulls behind Supes, it's not the first time that he's done this to people.
There is no way the story behind this cover could possibly even begin to be as amusing as the cover itself!

If you were doing the top 5 artistic JIMMY OLSEN covers, this one probably would make the cut.
Alas, I forget what the story was about.

If you want to know the story behind the cover, see:

Let's just say Jimmy needs the water as badly as Aquaman does. And "Superman" has a reason for not giving it to them.

Unfortunately Countdown was never published. Or at least that's what I like to tell myself.

Nitz, you probably know this already, but go read Irredeemable by Waid. "Superman" gone evil, and it's awesome.

It would have been even better if they showed Supes drinking the water.

Eh, just let them both die.

Can't Superman just, you know, pick them both up and fly them out of the desert? Just a suggestion.
