Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here‘s the archive of the moments posted so far!
Here is the first of the last two cool Casanova moments on the list!
Okay, Casanova #7, the last part of the first Casanova story arc. As with the other issues of this first arc, the art is by Gabriel Ba and the story is by Matt Fraction.
By the by, remember last issue when Casanova was with the folks on the isolated Coldheart Island? Well, he left his mother with them for her protection in that issue.
Anyhow, the set-up is that Casanova has finally decided to cut ties with Newman Xemo (evil head of the bad guy organization WASTE who brought Casanova to this universe from his own), who he has been working for as a double agent against the spy organization EMPIRE (Cass also has found out that Buck McShane, his father’s trusted adviser, was really working for Xemo.
But now, with McShane’s death, Casanova is cutting ties with Xemo and taking his sister, Zephyr, with him. Xemo is less than pleased…
What a nice ending for what was basically Casanova’s redemption!
That ending would be “the” ending.
Oh, in case you were curious, the crows are Casanova’s psionic signature (he has low-level psionic powers – in the earlier issues, spiders were his psionic signature, but he has now upgraded).
