I like Nabari no Ou, but it's a bit of a slow burn for me. You're pretty spot on when you peg this as as psychological drama as opposed to just straight-up ninja action. So I appreciate it trying to be more, but sometimes, it's just a really slow burn and my interest fades in and out.
But like you said, they have some really compelling characters and the art is pretty.

not at all! Of course the grass is greener and whatnot, but I really enjoyed your review (particularly how well you are able to express opinions about the art, something I struggle with).

It was late at night--I think it kind of flew under the radar. I really missed the chance to make some of the wonderful points you made here, though.

Hurrah! Something I have already reviewed and can read immediately! :D

Miharu continues to dissociate from his own life in order to not feel pain, but also to not cause others pain. His decision to withdrawal from his close circle of companions in this volume is less about emotional cowardice and perhaps more about sheer survival. In short, Miharu's dilemma breaks my heart and makes this title a surprisingly compelling psychological drama.

That there... that is extremely insightful and kick-ass.
