I have no problem with indie creators doing work for Marvel or DC if they want — whatever makes people happy (even if it’s just for the money, something that will probably make them happy). Just that thought process that certain writers or artists aren’t really ‘worthy’ yet until they’ve done Avengers or Batman or whatever.

And, comparing me to Edge? Lovely. (Though, I am a bit more partial to Jericho.)

Strange Tales rules, because it’s characters that you know and love having the piss taken out of them by cool indie creators whose work I’m for the most part not familiar with.

Also, I’m definitely going to check out Tales Designed to Thrizzle and Perry Bible Fellowship (plus some other stuff) now. All the good stuff I’d heard on the internet (i.e. here) hadn’t quite convinced me, but the Strange Tales bits did.

For me, the appeal of something like Strange Tales is the old “peanut butter in my chocolate” effect.

And yet, *if* this entry hadn’t still been leading to a Page Error (or whatever it was called) as of a mere 3 hours ago, I would *not* have been able to go to bed, because I would’ve been tormented by uncertainty over which of us is crazy … because while we’re apparently required by law to be on the opposite sides of just about any equation, damn if we don’t agree on Steve Leialoha’s excellence with pencils as well as inks.

(Of course, being nigh-incalculably old, I feel compelled to note that I began looking for the young man’s work when I first came across a page he drew in Emil Petaja’s HANNES BOK MEMORIAL SHOWCASE OF FANTASY ART, which came out back around the time the price of comics was going up to 30 cents.)

“Rated R Reviewing Star”? Really? Edge still calls himself that? Or are you referencing when he first did that bit about… five or six years ago? The wrestling references in columns either distract from the other points you make, and/or make it feel like I’m reading something written half a decade ago. Probably because it seems like WWE never changes. I want something hip and fresh, like random Lady Gaga quotations, or maybe a reference or two to Jared Subway commercials. (I’m kidding, please don’t do either of those).

Dangit, I had a comic-related comment, but I lost my train thought due to the wrestling thing. It was only two mentions early on in the post, but it sticks out like a rotting, gangrenous thumb.
