That’s the brilliance of this show…they actually upped the emo of Batman’s origin.

I have to agree that the OMAC episode felt kinda odd. Why did they merge Kafka with Doom Patrol foe Shrapnel? Also, why was it never mentioned that the whole OMAC thing takes place in the future (“The World That’s Coming!”) That would explain why Batman didn’t feel the need to deal with the GPA, since he probably just returned to the present at the end. (And how and why was Batman in the future in the first place? They keep doing this in this series, we also got no explanation of why Batman was in the Wild West when he ran into Jonah Hex, either.)

In fact, in general the one thing that ruins the fun for me in B&B is the wildly varying quality of the writing. We get episodes as cool as “Mayhem of the Music Meister!” but also as bad as “Night of the Huntress!” I know there are many different writers in the show, but somebody should oversee for better quality. Oh, and if you think the OMAC episode was inappropriately dark for this show, check out the Christmas Episode with Red Tornado… really, did we need to learn that Batman dislikes Christmas Day because THAT WAS WHEN HIS PARENTS WERE KILLED??? Ugh!

Still, overall I’m happy that this show exists, especially since I can’t enjoy the actual DC Comics themselves under Didio and Johns’ influence. I hope even more obscure characters show up in the future, like maybe Shade the Changing Man!
