Yes, Chris, they do. This has been going on ever since Chris Claremont left and it just gets worse as each new writer comes in and portrays Magneto as anything less than a messiah. It's really quite strange.

It was Morrison that kicked it back up.

You'd think they loved he brought the character back for an exciting, defining send off, but they missed it as being a tale on how the world has moved on from stories with a giggling maniacal mastermind behind the plots, and how sometimes figureheads are better off dead so they can't ruin it, and focused on the fact that he took drugs (ignoring that the drugs were the real villain, Sublime) and went crazy.

I feel like Dave Cockrum's wife should have better things to do with her time.

Rather than misunderstand a Morrison X-Men story, and then accuse the publisher of antisemitism because she missed the point of the story?

Nah, it keeps things entertaining.

Sincerely the problem is that Magneto had been warped sooo many times is hard to say what he is . Villain? Misguided ? Hero? Who know. Personally I'm not too keen on the purely evil thing, mostly because it does not make so muhc sense in the context of the things. I only agree that perhaps his problem is tha the is stuck with a too old view of the world. On the other side no one complain about how Cyclop had turned more and more asshole each year( to the point that yes, Emma Frost IS the perfect mate for such plank of jerkytude that is cyclop), or that Xavier is secret perv lusting about jean grey and manipulating his student because he say so. An let's forget about WOlverine. Who , by the way, had killed more people than Magneto actually did, and is still cosndered hero( note the people killed by wolverine are almost always goons/cannon fodder guys, with no real chance to beat him). So Magneto is not alone in this troubles.

In fairness -- maybe? -- to Paty, her beef seems to be more with anything Marvel does to alter Magneto's Claremont-penned background as a Jewish Holocaust survivor than anything else. She accused the writers and editors of anti-Semitism when, for a brief time, Marvel's editorial [position involved suggesting Magneto might be of Sinte ethnicity instead even though his relatively nuanced characterization was still intact.

That's why so much of her board post has to do with the idea that Magneto's characterization has something or other to do with fighting Holocaust denial. With Paty, it seems to be an entirely different sort of motivation than the usual "Magneto is a cute widdle woobie who oughtta kill all the humans but wouldn't" thing.

There was even one such incident here, where someone went on for far too long about how the big problem with Morrison's run was failing to hew to the "blessed Saint Magneto" line some insist on.

Also, Cockrum was a fantastic comic artist, he made a great contribution to the X-Books (at least on his fist run) his passing was tragic, and his treatment by Marvel in his last days was disgraceful, but his widow has proven herself time and again to be a flat-out frothing wackjob.

>>Wasn't this strip on-line twice a week?

We've cut back to once a week due to real life getting in the way. Also so I'm not spending all my waking hours trying to turn around a comic in 3 days.

As far as I know, they don't do the whole Jehovah's Witness thing, yet. But I have heard (and facepalmed to) these exact arguments countless times on the web.
