http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/JustBugsMe/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold

Wow. That's...

That's a lot of dumb right there. And TVTropes is usually pretty good. (Although I get the feeling that the "Just Bugs Me" is the TVTropes terrible writer ghetto. Just a hunch.)

I see:

(A) A bunch of people whio flat out don't understand what's going on in a cartoon aimed at six year olds,

(B) Folks that think that all the back-story for every character needs to be explained in meticulous detail,

(C) A LOT of people who don't have the slightest understanding of how fiction writing works,

(D) And, God Love 'em, fans who just seem to enjoy the ACT of whining, no matter how much credibility they have to strain to find something to whine about.

(E) The guy who complains about sound waves traveling in space. That's totally worth bringing up. Basic science is important.

And...

(F) And a bunch of salient, reasonable, and (in most cases) blatantly obvious rebuttals to the afore-mentioned asininity.

That page isn't the worst example of criticism I've read this week - I've been hanging out at IGN - but it is the second worst example of criticism I've read this decade.

-"What messages has the show botched in the past? I do agree they sometimes veer into the traumatic, but offhand I can't recall any botched lessons.'

T: I could list them for you, but this page does it better: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/JustBugsMe/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold

B&B has some great episodes, but also some terrible ones. Seriously, the producers need to monitor their writers better. "Inside the Outsiders" was so-so, in my opinion.

This show occasionally botches a lesson or veers into the traumatic. Remember, they had the Waynes murdered on Christmas.

Violence making him happy would just send a very, very bad message, especially for a kid's show.

Also, what were Batman's happy thoughts?

Catwoman, obviously. Why do you think she was the cold open?

Eh, I didn't care much for Psycho Pirate, they totally changed him from the comics. Also, what were Batman's happy thoughts? No, I don't think kicking Pirate was it- he was thinking of something else WHILE he was doing the kicking, we're not just shown what. Memories of his childhood, before his parents' murder perhaps? Violence making him happy would just send a very, very bad message, especially for a kid's show.

If only Black Lightning were to keep up his imaginary crusade against the real evil-doers-- people who don't clean up after their pets, who drive cars much larger than they need, and who think capes are a valid part of a superhero costume. A real American hero, that lad.
