I’ve read two Hawkeye #1s, but this isn’t either one of them. When I saw you were doing Hawkeye, I assumed it would be the first series, but I guess you’re not old enough for the ’80s nostalgia, huh?

As a Hawkeye fan, I kinda like this one…of course, I prefer ANY other solo Hawkeye adventures to this, and would LOVE more of those (even if the story is called “The High Hard Shaft” again).

I think the over-sell on the cover is great, too. Everything in the ’90s was pumped up to 11, “long awaited,” and just ridiculously over-done. Even the crappiest of the crappy series got the over-hyped treatment. Ahhh, the ’90s….

Paul — It’s a catchy title that I came up with prior to rereading any of these comics. Don’t take it too seriously. Honestly, this is a box of very random books with the stuff I liked a lot getting put in a different box, usually because, if I liked it, I bought more than just a random issue. So, that does skew things. If I do this again, I’ll probably use a different box/different batch of books and may do storyarcs or spend more time on a single title to give an larger impression of it.

Also, I haven’t hated everything — and it’s not my intention to dislike these books, I’m just being honest about what I’m reading.

i read the issue but decided not to go after the rest of the series for felt it was a little bit too dark due to use of shadows. not to mention Hawkeye seems the type who would go to a bar to drown his sorrows. then go hunting in the wilderness

I also only own this issue, and none of the following. I remember it being okay… but I think I prefer Kolins’ work these days. He cuts out the shadows now– my hazy memories tell me this comic was all shadows. But I can’t remember much about it.

I think I missed the first issue, but I picked up one or two of the subsequent issues. They introduced a short feral ferret kind of sidekick for him created by the secret experiments. The battle between Hawkeye and his former mentor was probably the best part. I agree that they were decent-to-good issues, but not great. I enjoyed them, though not as much as Hawkeye’s first miniseries.

But if you look at things in the past you liked, then you start to miss the good old times, and become depressed. If you instead look at bad things from the past, then you can be glad they’re gone. Yay!

Man, I thought nostalgia was supposed to be a fond look at the past, but you’ve disliked almost every single comic so far. You’re probably just randomly pulling out issues, but can’t you at least try to pick out one you liked? The 90s weren’t the best era but there has to be some good issues you can review. Because seriously, this is the most depressing nostalgia I’ve ever suffered through.
