For me, it’s a toss up between the GL and Batman covers.

Have to say I friggin hated the cover for All-Star Superman #1, not disagreeing that it should be on the list though, just can’t stand it.

If nothing else, these are exposing the blind spots I have to some eras/runs when it comes to DC. I grew up a Marvel fan and didn’t get into DC until years later.

Neal Adams’ Batman cover, which is also featured on the new (timed to the release of “Batman Begins”, I think) edition of “Tales of the Demon” TPB, featuring the early appearances of Ra’s Al Ghul. I hated, HATED the previous edition’s Brian Stelfreeze cover to the point that I never read the book and traded it in when I had the chance. When I saw the new cover, I had to have it, because I too remember those DC Treasury ads (yes that site is fantastic) and that was always my favorite cover. So, now I own Tales of theDemon again, which is actually an awesome book. A stupid reason to trade it in I know (did the same thing with the original version of The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told for the same reason), I jsut hated looking at those covers.

Also, I econd (third?) the vote for All-Star Squadron #1. What an awesome cover to the first issue of an awesome series that has never been collected. (WHY?!)

I’ve seen the GL cover a few times of course, but I’ve never noticed how goofy Hal looks. He’s clearly supposed to look insane in a scary way, but he looks like a clown.

Is that All-Star Squadron #1 the first time a superteam was depicted as being formed by 3 members going through a bunch of photographs? Because if so, even if the cover itself wasn’t literally homaged a lot by other covers, the cover’s concept was homaged a lot by several stories, including the first storyline of Brad Meltzer’s Justice League.

To a comic book reader of a certain age, those Collectors Edition covers (especially the Adams above) are all incredibly iconic, because they were featured in ads that DC ran throughout the 70s. I saw (and was frightened by) that Batman cover pretty much every time I picked up a comic from age 7-12.
