I love #1 and I think that it does fall into the top 75 most iconic, but I doubt that it would be in the top 50.

#1 – iconic? Not hardly. I loved the series and I’m sure I loved the story, but to me it’s just not in any way iconic. Any special significance to that cover or that issue?

A seminal issue for Swamp Thing for sure, but for me the standout cover was always the JLA one, where Woodrue has the Chainsaw (#24?), probably because it was the one that made me pick up the series when I saw it on the spinner. What a read! Absolutely the moment that changed my comics reading life.

Also, ANY of the original 10 Wrightson covers could make the list.

as much as I love that Adams cover, those things holding Batman’s arms on the the giant card just ruin it for me.

love the starman and bat man cover with the joker showing he is back in town but got to go with swamp thing for the cover shows why one really should not be stupid enough to earn swampys wrath and the begining of Alan moore showing why he and the character was a perfect match

One is good, hardly iconic, four is awesome ,hardly iconic. Three is awesome, iconic and done by Curt Swan (and George Klein ?), a god in my mind, buuuut my mom got me Batman #251 for Christmas one year when I was like 14 years old. This was in the eighties!! How she knew, who told her, where she got it, I don’t know, but how can I vote agaist that?

at this point i fear that robin 1 (first mini series, brian bolland cover) won’t make it. which is a shame, because it was a great image, and was one of the best selling books for DC during the comic boom of the early 90′s. i also feel like we probably won’t be seeing sandman 1 or jla 1 or 4 (either, but not both).

but damn, animal man 5 had still better make it. it’s a sure thing to be in a lot of people’s top 10.

and thank you for including starman 0. i was rooting for it but didn’t think we’d see it. it’s easily the most recognizable image of what was, for many people, dc’s best series of the 90s.

Not that your suggestion was not good, but in this instance, it was, in fact, the latter.

I officially laid out the remaining covers a few days ago, so the last few days have been all set (except for the idea I had that might change the line-up of the very last day – by the by, I believe I mentioned that my new idea was going to be on Monday, but I now realize Monday does not work, so it has to be on Sunday. So tune in tomorrow morning for some fun!).

I think I first saw that when I was around five or six and I’ve always remembered it. I saw the page with “I am thinking about the old man. I am thinking about the cracking of his joints as he runs.” at an early age too and it’s stuck with me ever since. Haunting, incredible stuff.
