A Year of Cool Comic Book Moments – Day 341
Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here‘s the archive of the moments posted so far!
Today we finish our look at Incredible Hercules #114!
Incredible Hercules #114, penned by Van Lente and Greg Pak and drawn by Khoi Pham, is about the Mighty Avengers (back when they were an extension of the Iron Man-led SHIELD) being forced to capture Hercules and Amadeus Cho, who were fugitives from SHIELD.
During the battle, Ares (now a Mighty Avenger and formerly a longtime Hercules foe) sprayed Hydra blood in Hercules’ face, which has made him go crazy.
Now Black Widow (Hercules’ former Champions teammate) confronts the delusional Hercules…

I think “the” moment is the Champions flashback – perhaps the “I’m evil!” bit with Ares. What say you folks?

“Hot damn, I’m evil!” That’s going into my everyday conversations.

Ares’ line gets my vote as well.

I wonder if Natasha had the same orgasm when she met Thor.

I think the moment is when Herc asks BW if he’s less less awe-inspiring and she doesn’t answer.

I’m torn between
1. “Verily I shall bust thine heads most thoroughly”
2. Hercules walking out of the flames following the big “BWOOMM”
3. “Put some pants on”

I’d go with “Like Rancid Milk.”
Let’s move on, and forget about Van Lente, eh?

Hey Chad, I found that bit funny because he asks it while naked & she pauses looking down before responding: “put some pants on”. I’d say that was a yes in her book (in more ways than one!).

It is a toss up between “Hot damn, I’m evil!” and “Put some pants on” but I am goign to go with the former since the latter bit has been done a number of times (including recently using Volstagg as the unadorned one).

It’s definitely “put some pants on.”

I liked the comment box, on the referance to Champoins 1, very clever

“To me you’ll always be &@#%! Hercules”
And, yes,
“Put some pants on”

like that one and the one where black widow has to blow up the tank to get Herc back to normal

I might have to go with the Champions flashback. Specifically, Hercules making fun of Angel’s costume (man was that one ugly), but Ghost Rider saying “s’alright” is amusing, too…

Hey, how about some love for, ” . . . in a much complier costume, it grieves me to add,” in reference to flashback-Angel’s costume. Man, the Champion’s always did have a lot of things going against them, and you can count Fashion amongst them.
Good choices all around in this one though. I love the selections that gives us 2 or 3 good moments to choose from and debate over.

I’ll go with “Hot Damn, I’m Evil”, although “Verily I shall bust thine heads most thoroughly” makes me smile as well, hehe
And that Angel costume was terribly ugly, yes…

‘Hot Damn, I’m evil’ has got to be the best line, but I also love the Champions footnote.
I finally bought a Hercules comic a few days ago. It was #117 from the Secret Invasion period. It was only 99 cents, so I thought I better get it and see what everyone is talking about. I wasn’t that impressed, although it did have some good moments. This story here seems to be much better. I might still buy some more whenever I can spare the money.

Something about this kind of comic bugs me a little. Things like the “Hot damn I’m evil!” line and the joke about Angel’s costumer are like the creators are taking potshots at older comics, as if the stuff they’re writing/drawing now is any less stupid.

Don’t ask me why, but the image of Ghost Rider saying ‘S’alright’ just sticks with me.

I personally go for the footnote “It’s not like it was published in 1975 or anything”…

I can’t pick just one cool moment from this sequence. The entire thing is cool.
