Luke Cage History: From Hero for Hire to Hollywood
TV, Comic Books
Here is the latest in our year-long look at one cool comic (whether it be a self-contained work, an ongoing comic or a run on a long-running title that featured multiple creative teams on it over the years) a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here‘s the archive of the comics posted so far!
We continue the Cool Christmas Comic Countdown with the Hellboy Christmas Special from 1997!
There are a few stories in the Hellboy Christmas Special, including a particularly interesting one by Gary Gianni, but the real star of this book is the lead feature, which was written and drawn by Hellboy’s creator, Mike Mignola.
It is Christmas Eve, and Hellboy is investigating the tragic fate of a family, where only the matriarch is still alive.
Can the spirit of Christmas re-united mother and daughter once and for all? Can Hellboy help to make that happen? Can Mignola draw amazing pieces of comic art? Well, the last one is a definitive yes. For the first two, pick up this comic!
The aforementioned Gianni back-up featuring his Corpus Monstrum monster hunters is enjoyable, as well.
This was a carefully put together Christmas special with a lot of reading depth (beyond just the Mignola and the Gianni stories). It even comes with a holiday reading guide at the end by Mignola!!!
