A Year of Cool Comic Book Moments – Day 344

Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here‘s the archive of the moments posted so far!

I thought that today would be the perfect time to start…We3 moments!!! Today, in particular, is the apt time to share the following….

Naturally, I’m going with 1 talking for the first time as “the” moment.

i would go with 1 saying hello and the generals face when he does plus the guy saying he does not want three pissed off animals coming after him

This comic makes me so emotional

WE3 is one of those things you can just give to a person when they ask “Why are comics awesome”. The greatest creative team in the industry doing what they do best. Its so beautiful, innovative, and emotional. And it showcases one of my favorite things done in comics; ECONOMY! When exposition is thrown away in favor of a picture and a simple question mark or exclamation point. A trio of characters that can’t even speak complete sentences, and yet have real characterization and emotional depth to their adventure. Its just one of the most perfect things ever made, and I’m glad we’re finally doing some moments about it.

I’d go with “MMMMMEN STINK! BOOOOSSSSS STINK!” as the moment.

But, you also can’t beat the “awww, cute” moment when number 1 dog speak, “R. U. GUD?”

Yeah, being a cat person primarily (although I love dogs as well), the moment for me is also MMMMEN ST!NK! BOSSSS STINK!…. HUNGRY.

Y’know, this may be my single favorite corporate-published comic ever.

This is an absolute masterpiece.

i have had pet rats for several years now. They are the most awesome pet that a person can have. i am so upset with the panel with the killing of the rat. :_{
Serious suckage.

Of couse this stuff looks great, but i’m not sure that i’ll be reading it or not due to my sensitive nature.
DFTBA

Yeah, if you’re sensitive about these things, do NOT read this series.

The cat was my favorite, for her ( the cover to issue #2 says that it’s a female named ” Tinker ” ) attitude but also for the fact that she’s still loyal to Bandit and the rabbit. Perhaps in a parallel earth, there’s a site called ” Comics Actually Stink “, with Tinker’s image on the front page…

I had an ex-girlfriend I would give comics too if I thought she’d like the story, including We3.

A week later. her only response was, “I cried … both times I read it.”

That says it all, huh?

Will this book be ruined or spoiled for me if I read these moments? I’d like to check out WE3. Has it been put into trade?

Yes to both questions.

Thanks. I’ll avoid these for the next few days, then.

Awesome stuff, and so easy to read and enjoy from square one.

I almost cried reading that. I made the mistake of reading it on the bus not realizing how emotional it was.

I’m more of a cat person than a dog person too, but this moment is all 1′s.

When he closes his mouth and tilts his head, that’s such a dog thing, it’s just perfect.

It’s a glorious book, and I might never have read it without your site, so thanks, Brian!
My favorite bit here was the “bossss! stink!”
So how many weeks in total will you devote to We3 cool moments?

Ha!

Seeing as how the year is almost over, I think I’ll keep the We3 moments to a minimum. Perhaps just three or four tops. And we all know what ONE of those moments will be, don’t we? :) (it involves the phrase “Doc-tor Rose-anne”)

So, I’m not Morrison fan outside of Animal Man, and I’m 110% a dog person, and yet for me the moment is the cat saying “MMMen stink! Bossss stink!”

I honestly figured I’d never even consider reading this story since I’ve been done with the GOAC for a while now. But this was really freaking good. Maybe I can see why so many people love this guy. I need to read this story.

And the “What kind of lunatic would teach a killing machine to talk?” line made me laugh out loud.

And I want people to realize how hard it is for me to say these things being a non-Morrison lover on a very pro-Morrison blog. At least I can admit when I am wrong.

I honestly just assumed everyone who read this site had read We3 at one point or another. :)

So yeah, you ought to read We3.

I’m probably going to have to reread my copy when I get home tonight now.

Brian – You have to include the “Bad Dog” moment!

You know, if it weren’t for this site, I probably never would have heard of (much less read/bought) WE3. For that, I thank you. And happy anniversary, guys!

Cracking choice, Brian. I doubt you’ll include, but for me this comic also has the single most powerful splash page ever.

I must admit, I’m choked up just reading these few pages again.

Only three comics have ever brought tears to my eyes, and all were written by Morrison: We3, Animal Man, and Doom Patrol.

Also, as awesome as All Star Superman is, I think this is Quitely’s best work (of what I’ve read), and that’s saying something.

Home means run no more.

I hated We3.

HATED

But, just in case you misudnerstand what I am saying, I hated it because it was so well done and actually made me upset to read it.

I hated Frank Quitely for deserting 2000AD, after teasing us with Missionary Man and Shimura…

Then I read We3…

Really should get a trade version, as my original comics are looking a bit battered…

“Yeah, if you’re sensitive about these things, do NOT read this series.”

Hell, nothing bad happens in those panels (well, other than to the rats and nobody cares about diseased things that hump in your walls and then die in them) you posted and I still got choked up. =(

I don’t think I could make it through the series, especially if they throw in a sad scene somewhere in there where one of them finds their owner right before they die.

There’s this one panel where, yeah, it’s tough (the whole page is brutal, but this one panel….hoo boy)

Ah, I’ve been waiting all year for this. But how can you choose just three or four “cool comic book moments” from this series? I can think of at least ten off the top of my head, and I haven’t read it in a few months!

Yeah, I never would have thought to buy this series if CSBG hadn’t plugged it so much. Thanks for that!

Also, as I was reading this cool moment, I was wondering how they even came up with the name “We 3″. On reading it the second time, I got it. Make of that what you will…

This is a heartbreaking, unforgettable story. I can see why you use Bandit’s image for your blog and avatar.

On my Top 10 of greatest comics ever. And I hate animals.

Is it ok to admit I wasn’t *that* moved by it? I mean, from a technical standpoint, I can see why people would like it…I guess I just don’t have a soul lol

I totally second that. For me, it was the most moving moment in the entire series.
