A Year of Cool Comics – Day 345

Here is the latest in our year-long look at one cool comic (whether it be a self-contained work, an ongoing comic or a run on a long-running title that featured multiple creative teams on it over the years) a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here‘s the archive of the comics posted so far!

We continue the Cool Christmas Comic Countdown with the 2006 Marvel Holiday Special!!

Enjoy!

The highlight of this special was a Scott Gray and Roger Langridge Fin Fang Foom story (have I ever told you all about how awesome I think Roger Langridge is? Well, if I haven’t, let me point it out now – he is awesome), where Doctor Strange’ pal Wong tries to enlist Fin Fang Foom’s help in stopping some bad guys (note, Fin Fang Foom is “normal” sized because of the events of Gray and Langridge’s Fin Fang Four series of stories)…

Wasn’t that awesome?

There’s also a cute “A is for…, B is for…” story by Mikes Carey and Perkins, as well as a nice story by writers
Andrew Farago and Shaenon K. Garrity and artist Ron Lim about a woman bringing her date to her Christmas party. The problem is, she works for AIM! Hilarity ensues…

Anyhow, this was an overall really fun issue.

“You work with that… um…”
“No, no, I’m in B Sector. He’s in K Sector, the sector designed only for killing.”

BWAHHH-HA-HA-HA!!!!

I knew about the Fin Fang Foom story, but not the AIM party. I’m gonna have to track this down, I think…

I never read a Fin Fang Foom story. Is that his normal personality? It’s funny as hell.

In the Fin Fang Four stuff, yes. Not in his original stories, where he was just a fairly traditional monster.

Spoiler: Green alert is exactly what you think it is.

Was it actually continued after the 11th page following?

Yeah, it was an amusing bit where it was only four pages long, but it was spread out amongst the entire book. So a lot of stuff like “continued on the 13th page following,” etc.
