A Year of Cool Comic Book Moments – Day 358

Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here‘s the archive of the moments posted so far!

Today we get a Christmas moment, courtesy of the good folks at EC Comics…

Will Elder provided the art for this twisted take on ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, and it’s quite brilliant (it got this issue of Panic #1, the spin-off of Mad, banned in Massachusetts!)…

That last spread of Bill Gaines and the EC crew has to be “the” moment.

Merry Christmas, folks!

Great moment, Brian. Will Elder was awesome, as was all of EC.

My Christmas present was getting rid of that first silly comment. :)

I don’t know, I liked the scene where Santa cries “Uncle” after having his beard pulled.

Merry X-mas to one and all!

can see why this got banned mostly for the santa in black face. a worthy choice. and Merry Christmas and a Happy new year

I don’t know. I imagine at the time, there were probably few complaints about the blackface. I once heard that the ‘just divorced’ sign was one of the things they were most upset about.

Wow. Marie and John Severin, Wally Wood, Al Williamson, Joe Orlando– EC had a great pool of talent, huh? Bill Gaines just doesn’t seem himself without the beard, though.

I was hoping that somewhere on Comics Should Be Good today, there would be Luke Cage wishing us a Sweet Christmas.

Great moment indeed! And a Merry Christmas to everyone! May your lives be full of joy, may your families be healthy, and may your comics be good!

I almost enjoyed this, until the blackface.
