Little surprised at Thor scraping it, but I suppose at the time Thor was probably more prestigious.
Apart from that, not many surprises though I would have called a better showing for Barbara Gordon and Strange.

I dunno, 25% of the vote against a heavyweight like Spider-Man doesn’t sound like such a bad showing for the good Doctor.

[...] that Barry Allen vs. Wally West battle after all. While Wally outraced Sinestro 57% to 43% in Silver Age Round 1, the Hulk smashed Barry Allen 52% to 48%. Meanwhile, over in the modern age region, Bart Allen was [...]

So 5 years ago, what does Wally get on Sinestro? 70-80%, right?

A lot of these were such tough calls that, just two days later, I don’t really remember what I voted for. Sure, Spidey, Doom, and Wally West were pretty much givens, but I think I made my other votes based on impulse. (I’m pretty sure I picked Tony, Barbara, Clint, Hal, and Barry, though….)

Pretty much how I voted down the line, except for Sinestro and Babs.

Surprised by Thor. Really surprised by Green Lantern. I guess people might be voting more for the whole GL mythos than for Hal Jordan (who has always seemed boring and unintentionally dick-ish to me), because Magneto is one of the most complex characters in comics.

Can’t speak for anyone else, Eric, but for me it was mostly nostalgia. Like I said in another thread, the first comic book I ever actually bought for myself (as opposed to reading my older brother’s) was a Green Lantern comic featuring Hal. (And the first comic i remember reading was a Barry Allen Flash, so that would’ve made an interesting showdown for me down the line, if The Hulk hadn’t edged him out.)

I’m really surprised at Magneto doing so poorly. I thought he was more popular than that. But he has been so badly written so many times, and I suspect a lot of people are just sick of him. (I myself think that he’s been horribly overused.)
Mostly I’m disappointed over Doctor Strange, even though I voted against him. If I were making up my own list of the greatest characters, it would be: 1) Spider-Man
2) Kitty Pryde
3) Doctor Strange
(Beyond that I’m not sure how it would go. It would probably depend on my mood when I made the list.)
But poor Stephen never stood a chance, because you put him up against Spidey in the first round.

Somewhat surprised to see Iron Man taken down by Thor! I wonder if this bodes well for the box office of the upcoming Thor film.
