Maybe a few more people will actually buy it this time!

Casanova is back, baby! And it’s at Marvel, through their Icon imprint. Whoo-bleepin’-hoo!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, it will probably sell many, many, many more copies even though the original was $1.99 per issue and this … won’t be (to be fair, the issues will be combined, so the price won’t be too prohibitive). But damn, this is a great comic book. I already own the damned issues and I may have to buy them again. Seriously – I’m so freakin’ stoked for this.

Yeah!!!!

I already own all the issues of the now previous series, but I am stoked to buy them all again in color!

Good move on Marvel/Icons part!

I already have the original singles, but I’ll definitely pick up the in-color trades. New material, no matter how brief, by Moon and Ba is too tough to pass up entirely.

And, if all goes to plan, we could be getting brand new Casanova issues next year. That is definitely worth getting stoked for!

I’m buying them again. Damn right.

Man, I just don’t get that book at all.

I liked the monochrome coloring but the full-color stuff looks nice too. Welcome back.

I just can’t believe it’s taking them this long to get the second trade out.

Also sad that I won’t be able to get it in the two tone when it comes out – thought it made the series look great.

On the other hand, I may just be an old man having a whinge about the kids needing everything in colour.

Totally re-buying this, likely in trade form. Roll on arc three!

I will be buying it again, and am totally stoked. I also trust Fraction and the Twins, but, but, but…I really liked the monochrome, and especially the concept of each “album” having a color.

“Man, I just don’t get that book at all.”

Oh, good, now I get why I don’t understand most of your arguments and comics of choice. Chalk it up simply to completely different strokes.

Casanova is likely the best new series of the past ten years.

“Man, I just don’t get that book at all.”

No worries, man, I’ve read some of it and wasn’t impressed by the story.

I’m not just getting it at all.

The art’s is good, tho’.

Tom, you can’t just read SOME of it, you need to read it ALL. Devour it whole and voraciously, like the succulent morsel of manic indie pop chaos that it is. It’s like Rocky Road ice cream stuffed with Prozac, with fireworks jammed into the bowl, giving you a fervent need to finish it all before it explodes in your face like Ron Jeremy in a hot twin sandwich.

@ Stealth:

WTF!?

That is probably the best description of the series I have heard yet!

Yeah, the retailers and fans who shun Image and think Fraction’s the shit on X-Books and other Marvel stuff he’s done will probably order / buy it. So it should fare moderately well at Marvel, I think.

I doubt I’ll be interested personally (I passed on it at Image), but I’m sure I’ll take a glance at it again when it comes out.

A person’s opinion of Casanova is the deciding factor in whether or not I take them seriously.

You mainstream ho.

The return of Casanova is the best news I’ve heard in living memory.

Nah – I didn’t like it either. If I want a mad bombardment of crazy ideas that’s actually fun to read I’ll go for The Umbrella Academy Instead.

I absolutely hate shamless renumbering, or relaunching, or rereleases. It annoys the piss out of me and I think it’s one of the few times that fanlads can get their rants on.

-In saying that-

I have the original issues of Casanova and I’m considering buying these again. The transfer from monochrome to colour truly adds some depth to the art, and there’ll be an extra Moon story to start off with, plus some extra mysterious back matter, and they’re pretty good value….ugh, man I just love that Casanova is back so bad that I think I might be on for this. See how the budget goes.

I wonder, does this mean my Gula arc issues will truly be collector’s items now seeing as that arc in monochrome will never be collected in any form? Ha, awesome.

LAME!

Human head on a gorilla body is a character in Umbrella Academy – it would be half a panel in Casanova, and not even the best panel of the page.

Casanova is not an opportunity I’ll want to miss again.

And yeah, though I’m sure Casanova is better, Invincible Iron Man was pretty good superhero comics. Anyone who can make Maria Hill interesting gets points in my book.

I tried the first issue of the book and had no idea what the hell I just read. Never tried it again.

Based on these raves I may try again though. I liked the art at least.

Casanova is one of the most daring, fun, and, yes, challenging comics out there. I understand that it’s not for everyone. At the same time, I ask those who don’t believe the hype to look again. There’s a lot going on (the 1st issue didn’t quite work for me, either, until I read the next couple) and the series rewards rereading. The end of the second story is one of the best I’ve ever read. Casanova is, as stealthwise said, the best series of the last 10 years.

I’m going to check it out this time around.

I thought the first issue of Casanova was the best of the bunch. I found everything I enjoyed about the series in that one issue–I’ve re-read that single issue much more than I’ve read the rest of the series.

If it’s not $1.99, I most likely won’t be back, unfortunately. That definitely helped hook me in, and it would be instrumental in getting me to pick up the new volume. I’m currently buying zero new single issue comics, and I likely would make an exception for two dollar Casanova. Oh, well.

I only have the first trade. Officially double dipped here…

Casanova rocks. Let me brag and say that due to people apparently not getting it in my local comic stores, I picked up the first 8 issues for, oh, less than 2 bucks, total. Yes indeedy. I first saw it as a backup in Fell — now that’s a book that needs to come back. Even my girlfriend dug that!

I just need to find Casanova 9-14 now.

I also knew Casanova was awesome when Fraction name checked the New Pornographers in the back matter. I think they’ve got a new album coming out too.

Maybe that’s why Umbrella Academy is better than Casanova.
