The Line It Is Drawn #15 – Comic Book Character Odd Couples
Let’s get the standard stuff out of the way.
You should follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi and Michelle Smith!
The blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account. As an incentive to follow us, if we reach 2,000 followers, I’ll do an extra edition of Comic Book Legends Revealed the week we hit 2,000. At 3,000 followers, I will do another Month of Greatest Stories Ever Told!
Now on to the bit!
So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our SIX blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the top six choices from the previous week.
To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (all suggestions due by 11:59 PM Eastern on Thursday, November 11th):
Remember Amalgam Comics? When Marvel and DC merged their characters together, like Superman and Captain America became Super Soldier? Stuff like that? Well, that’s the theme this week, only you can use amalgamate ANY two characters from ANY comic book company!
Read on for the five sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge:
Pick ANY two famous duos, say, Batman and Robin and Lone Ranger and Tonto. Then our artists will pick one character from each of the two duos to form a NEW duo! If our artists would like, they can draw both new mismatched duos, or just the one. So imagine Lone Ranger and Robin doing a domino mask team-up! Another example – Power Man and Iron Fist and Hopey and Maggie. Stuff like that. There are LOTS of duos out there – get creative!
Enjoy!
I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.
All copyright and trademarks of the following characters are held by their respective owners!
You might notice I only said five sketches this week. We’re without George Zapata this week. He’ll be back next week, though!

Thanks so much to the artists and the suggestion-givers! Now everyone head off to Twitter and give them some good options for next week! This past week was a good week, so let’s have more weeks like that!
NOTE: If you wish to participate in the November Reader Art Gallery, this is your last chance to do so! The deadline to send your artwork (based on any of the previous The Line It Is Drawn topics, although I’d prefer you choose ones from October) to me at bcronin@comicbookresources.com is 6pm Eastern time on Thursday, November 11th! Which is tomorrow! I already received more pieces this month than last month, but the more the merrier!

All great this week, but I think top honor has to go to Beavis and Batman. Funny stuff.

I like the Batman one, it’s great.
It also sticks to the rules of the challenge, which not everyone else did.

As always, Canaan’s art looks great, but I know nothing about Knight and Squire and I’ve never even heard of the Goon and Frankie.
Like everyone else, I’m picking Beavis and Batman as the best.

No George? Not fair! Its always fun to see how he interprets his suggestions so its kinda sad to not have one this week.
as for the rest of the pieces, WOO! great job from everyone. Mine is bleh, so i’ll just move on to chaz’s which is pretty freakin trippy! i appreciate that he went through the trouble of showing off both teams respectively. Brad’s submission is just hilarious, and Raf’s has some really awesome contrast work.
Canaan, as usual is just kicking my ass. You’re awesome, man!
thanks for the kind words from everyone who liked the beavis and batman piece!

Daniel nailed it this week. Canaan’s dialogue is hilarious and nicely done.
@Daniel and everyone- Yeah sorry I couldn’t get in on the action this week. Doing some work in Manhattan this week so I didn’t get a chance to draw one up. Everyone did a great job and can’t wait to see the choices for amalgam characters (Batman Incredibles anyone wink wink)

Canaan’s piece was my favorite. Even though I know little about either team, just seeing them interact is funny! Plus, his art and ideas are great as usual (Car roof zombie fight!!
)
Baby Supes and Bats are adorable!
Where does The Doctor get mad at Booster for messing with time? He’s done some REALLY questionable stuff himself! (but still, funny drawing!)
I guess Chewie finally got tired of being Han’s second banana, eh?
Man I’d almost forgotten about Butt-head, no-thanks for reminding me! (but nice art!)
Again, thanks to everyone.

This is one of the strongest weeks yet – all of them are fantastic! I had forgotten all about the Great Cornholio haha! And even though my knowledge of The Goon and Frankie is very little I thought Caanan’s piece just looks great.
