The Line It Is Drawn #17 – Comic Book Characters and Star Wars Characters
Let’s get the standard stuff out of the way.
Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi and Michelle Smith!
The blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account. As an incentive to follow us, if we reach 2,000 followers, I’ll do an extra edition of Comic Book Legends Revealed the week we hit 2,000. At 3,000 followers, I will do another Month of Greatest Stories Ever Told!
Now on to the bit!
So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our SIX blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the top six choices from the previous week.
To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (all suggestions due by 11:59 PM Eastern on Friday, November 26th – I think I’ll push next week’s installment back a day because of Thanksgiving):
This week’s topic (courtesy of a suggestion by Rufus Edge) is: Come up with a scenario where a superhero is doing a mundane task. Batman doing the laundry, Spider-Man mowing the lawn, etc. The odder the juxtaposition, the better!
Read on for the five sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge:
Team-ups or mash-ups of comic book characters with characters from any one of the six Star Wars films!
Enjoy!
I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.
All copyright and trademarks of the following characters are held by their respective owners!
Sorry for the delay, folks. George and Daniel could not make it this week, and I felt weird just posting four drawings, so I asked Nick Perks to fill-in again, and I just needed to wait for him (he had very little notice) so now we’re ready to go!
BigMike20X6 suggested:
X-Babies vs Ewoks
Caanan Grall is the artist for this one. Here is his website.

gijoerice and Louie4711 suggested:
Darkseid/Darth Vader
Nick Perks is the artist for this one. Here is his website. I’ll have a finished piece by Nick up tomorrow for Thanksgiving! Again, Nick did this super quick for us, so thanks a lot, Nick!

shurwitt suggested:

Thanks so much to the artists and the suggestion-givers! Now everyone head off to Twitter and give them some good options for next week!
NOTE: If you wish to participate in the Decemer Reader Art Gallery, you have plenty of time to do so! The deadline to send your artwork (based on any of the previous The Line It Is Drawn topics, although I’d prefer you choose ones from November) to me at bcronin@comicbookresources.com is 6pm Eastern time on Thursday, December 9th! We received a lot of drawings this month – so I’d like to see just as many next month!

It’s official; Caanan Grall and Brad Millette are AWESOME.
I want these two on at least 5 books apiece.

When I was younger I would have argued that the Punisher wouldn’t kill innocent Ewoks, but now I know that Ewoks are all cannibals, so now it makes sense.

Once again, a great job done by all.

Well, Canaan is great as always, but I really love Raphael’s Vader/Galactus. The colour and lighting effects are fantastic.
I never use Twitter, as I am not a Twit, but if anyone wants to suggest this on my behalf, I’d love to see Moondragon shaving her head.

I love that it all came down to Vader, Greedo and Ewoks. And man, I couldn’t be happier with how my suggestions were realized — Vader/Galactus is totally metal, and both Ewoks pieces are priceless. Great job, y’all!

Canaan and Raphael made beautiful contributions this week but Brad Milette really made my day with Frank’s slightly psychotic smile while burning those cute ewoks.

The tear dripping down the Ewok’s eye in the righthand corner definitely makes the piece.

Ehh, I’m afraid I didn’t like these batch of fanarts as much as previous ones, because some are a little too mean-spirited for my taste (Lobo killing Han, The Punisher slaughtering the Ewoks). On the other hand the X-Babies have always been cuter than the Ewoks, so that one works for me. Regarding the Darkseid one, which came out first, Star Wars or Kirby’s New Gods? Also, I somehow don’t see Vader working well as Galactus’ herald.

New gods came out some time before Star Wars; it’s long been thought that Lucas was, er, inspired by a lot of Kirby’s work. (Vader’s similarity to Doctor Doom is brought up quite a lot.)

Ewok tears taste like fine whiskey.

I thought Lobo blasting Han was hilarious. Vader/Darkseid was inspired. And Canaan – Loved the Ewoks bowing to Colossus like they did with C-3PO.
Must confess that I feel like I cheated a little by suggesting X-Babies ^_^ It was a last minute idea, but then I remembered the awesome job that was done with my Muppet Babies suggestion back in August

Galactus has had some ruthless choices as Heralds like Tyros the Terrible (Terrax) and Morg so Vader wouldn’t be all that much of a stretch.

Love the tear on the front-right Ewok in Brad’s drawing…so many Ewoks, so little flame…

Everything is pretty good as always. But the grin on Punishers face as he takes out Ewoks was worthy of a lol.

Interesting that the original trilogy inspired all of these, and no one picked up on the prequels. Were there any suggestions that used the prequels?

Batman vs Stormtroopers
Big Mike
November 27, 2010 at 10:27 am
Craig – It comes down to the artists choosing which ones they want to draw. I suggested 2 ‘prequel’ mashups, Jar-Jar and the Great Lakes Avengers, and Nick Fury vs Mace Windu.
In the end, Canaan chose X-Babies vs Ewoks, so we all win with that one.

Darth Vader: Herald of Galactus is pretty awesome, but Punisher killing Ewoks is priceless, even more if he’s doing it with a flamethrower. Can’t decide which one is the best.

Ewoks are beloved, gentle forest folk. Why? Why harm the peace lovers? These works of “art” make me wanna puke.

I never understand the hatred for Ewoks. Always seems like more fanboy over-reactions than anything.
So yeah for me Raf’s Darth/Galactus image is just stunning. Seriously, I could look at it for hours. Great job man!
Canaan’s is great too. It’s only when you look closer and notice all the details that you realise just how good it is.

I don’t really hate Ewoks, I just thought the image of Punisher going all Hank Scorpio on them was pretty funny.

I don’t understand the hatred for the Ewoks either, but then I watched the Caravan of Courage over and over on VHS when I was a kid. I am, of course, afraid to watch it again in case my nostalgia gets discoloured but I remember I loved it.

Now that Caanan has reminded me of the Ewok movies, yes, I DO hate the Ewoks.
