A Month of Cover Theme Games #27

Every day this month, I’ll give you a new cover theme game! If you don’t know the game by now, it works like this: I’ll show you three covers. They all have something in common, whether it be a character, a trait all three characters share, a locale, a creator, SOMEthing. And it isn’t something obvious like “They all have prices!” “They all have logos!” “They all feature a man!” “They are all Avengers (who ISN’T?)!” “They’re all dead (who HASN’T been killed off?)!” etc.

In addition, please note that you must have some familiarity with comic book history to correctly guess these comics. You cannot guess the connective theme just by looking at the covers solely, you must have some knowledge beyond just the covers.

If you come up with an answer that works outside of what I intended, I’ll give you credit (well, provided I think it fits, of course).

One more thing – if there are floating heads on the cover, ignore them! They don’t mean anything!

If you think you know the answer, e-mail me at bcronin@comicbookresources.com (make sure to write which number game you’re answering). Don’t answer in the comments. This way, people who check in at different times of the day can still get credit for answering it correctly! After two days, I’ll post the people who answered today’s game correctly! Here is the list of all the games, along with the answers to each one (after two days go by, of course).

Good luck and enjoy!

This one is gettable!

X-Comics without Wolverine on the cover? That’s rare enough, isn’t it?

The box art on X-Men doesn’t count.

I’ve actually read all of these. So they have that in common.

Now I’m convinced that Brian is doing these back-to-back X-covers to throw me off the scent, because I haven’t really bothered to try to make sense of the X-titles since 1988. Gorram frackin’ muties.

googling “kitty layla tabitha” gives one possible result that I doubt was intended and I’m not going to submit as an alternate answer.

I really feel like this one is staring me in the face but I can’t quite make the connection.

Yarg! I’m an X-pert and I can’t quite place the connection.

I have tons of two cover mini connections, but nothing that brings in all three.

What in hell is that thing on the Marvel logo on the top issue? It’s looks like a tiny blobby alien in a jump suit doing a Hitler salute. I don’t get the X-books. Never have, never will.

This isn’t related to any theme, but isn’t Leech right behind Skids on that X-terminators cover? Shouldn’t her force field be non-functional? I demand an investigation!

Howdy terrific website! Does running a blog like this take a lot of work? I have virtually no understanding of computer programming but I was hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyway, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off subject nevertheless I simply wanted to ask. Kudos!
