May I suggest a few polls for things that I think a lot of people would be genuinely curious on how the voting would turn out?
Who is the definitive Batman artist? (Adams, Rogers, Aparo, Sale, Miller, Sprang, Kane, Robinson, Breyfogle, Mazzuchelli… I could see all of those guys getting serious support, plus I’m sure I’m forgetting some.)
Who is the 4th best X-Men writer? (Or just who is the best X-Men writer besides Claremont, Morrison, and Whedon.)
What is the WORST “event” story of the 2000s? (Civil War, House of M, Infinite Crisis, Identity Crisis, etc. Which one do people hate the most?)
What creator who has never had a run on a big two comic would you most like to see on one?
Which Marvel series that hasn’t gotten the Essential treatment most needs it? (Shang-Chi, New Mutants, Excalibur, Alpha Flight, Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD, Sgt. Fury, Black Panther, New Warriors, I’m sure there’re more.)

@Third man – like your suggestions – esp worst event and best batman artist, but with the Xmen writer I’d rather see a poll for the FIRST BEST WRITER, not who you think are the best 3, and then go from there.

thirding the “worst event” suggestion, but don’t put ultimatum in, because it’d win by a landslide

I’d love a poll on how people’s tastes changed as they aged as comic readers? The numbers I see say that people are still only buying superhero mainstream books, but almost everybody I actually know has gravitated to the full range of comic book types.

Brian, the polls are a GREAT idea, but you really need to add an iteration of the “other – posted in comments” or “I don’t follow/read these books” to each poll to be fair, otherwise you’re going to get quite a few “click submits” on random stuff. Not enough to skew the results, but enough that, in the end, it’s not going to be as accurate as you’d probably like.

And by “an iteration”, I mean ONE “other/I don’t read these / non participant” option, not several.

But customized on a per poll basis, dependent on the subject.

1. Secret Avengers (Only one I buy, I’m sick of Bendis right now).
2. Green Arrow (His personality, though Firestorm came close)
3. Lee/Kirby easily.
4. Two-Face
5. I don’t collect any of the vertigo title monthly right now, but I just bought 1st and 2nd trade of Scalped, and it got my vote. I still love Hellblazer and Fables, too. Problem with Vertigo is that they are better read in a bunch rather than waiting every month (to me).

How about a poll for who is your favorite gay character? But a seperate one for both men and women. Because you just know all the straight guys will only pick a female.
Thanks!

Yeah – I just scrolled back through the CSBG archives to see whatever happened to those last polls – doesn’t look like the results were ever posted.
What’s up Brian – do you have something special planned for those last poll results? It seemed like the question re: the Great 80′s Marvel Runs generated a ton of feedback, so I don’t know if you decided to shift gears and do something different with it. Don’t mean to be a pesky fan, but I was just really interested in seeing the results for that one, which is why I went searching through the archives for it. Do you have something cool you’re going to lay on us or was it just an oversight?

One of the polls had a match-up that could have been (and was) in the DC/Marvel Character Tournament, so I figured I’d hold off until the tournament was over.

Thanks Brian – makes sense. Those polls were a lot of fun and I’m really curious to see results re: the 80′s Marvel runs.
Thanks for running these things for us – they’re a ton of fun.
