The Line It Is Drawn #32 – Superheroes in Famous Music Videos
Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi and Michelle Smith!
The blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account. As an incentive to follow us, if we reach 3,000 followers, I’ll either do another extra edition of Comic Book Legends Revealed the week we hit 3,000 or I will do another Month of Greatest Stories Ever Told (your choice)!
Now on to the bit!
So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our SIX blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the top six choices from the previous week.
To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 3:00 AM Pacific, Friday, March 11th).
Next week’s theme is…
Team-up/mash-up a comic book character with a famous advertising mascot (thanks to Mike Shirley for the suggestion)
Read on for the six sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!
Insert a superhero character into a famous music video.
Enjoy!
I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.
All copyright and trademarks of the following characters are held by their respective owners!
Daniel and George couldn’t make it this week. So Sean will fill-in and luckily, Nick had an extra piece. Plus, as a bonus, Chaz did two versions of his piece! So you get SEVEN pieces this week!

All around great pieces this week.
Canaan, love the 1980s cameos
Sean, making the Gorrilaz the Fantastic… er… Future Foundation, awesome sauce.
Nick’s pieces are always great.
Mic, same.
My thoughts on Chaz’s pieces have been stated elsewhere ^_^

Also, I’d like to give a shout out to my good friend Emmett, who gave me the Danzig/Logan idea.

This was hard on the suggestions front. So few music videos have one iconic image.
Great job to the artists.

By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth, Stephen’s smirk is priceless. Well done, Canaan.
And I don’t even know the reference (I only vaguely know who Danzig is, although I’ve been to the city of the same name), but Chaz’s ones are pretty damn funny.

Canaan’s piece is awesome as usual, but for the life of me I don’t recognize the two kids on the far right.
Who are the boy with the moon pendant and the indian girl?

Great pieces. I don’t recognize anyone to the right of Strange except for Karate Kid

To the right of Strange is Sarah and Hoggle (from Labyrinth), Atreyu and Bastian, Danny Larusso, Ferris Bueller, and Esteban and Zia (from the Mysterious Cities of Gold).
I usually make suggestions almost every week, but this is the first time one of mine was picked and it really is awesome to see your idea brought to life by someone else. I see why you guys love it so much.
You arty folks are the rockingest rockers who ever rocked a pencil, pen, marker, brush, and/or tablet. Nick, that Bohemian FF is perfect. Wow.

There’s also Inspector Gadget, Penny and Brain.

I didn’t even notice the people behind Strange were meant to be anyone in particular.
I’m not familiar with the Danzig or Gorillaz videos. I do like how Wolverine has devil horns, though.
I guess the Bohemian Rapsoday works best, but it’s also the easiest to do. Queen themselves just copied the cover from their second album.

That should say ‘Rhapsody’, obviously.

OMg! MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD! I frickin’ LOVED that boring show!! XD Where’s the Incan dude? That is SO sick, caanan! (The clothing patterns are luscious!)
I’m getting a serious Quitely vibe off Nick’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Addicted to Love is beautiful. That’s the hottest I’ve seen Siryn/Banshee in a while.
LMAO at Chaz’s second piece! *LOVE* it, man.
The Spider-mobile looks so hot, Sean. I likes Mr. Fantastic’s expression the most.
Thanks for the suggestions, snakebitcat, Dean, & Big Mike!
Peace.

Nick Perks is once again the top artist this week, with BOTH of his sketches (though my favorite was the Addicted To Love one.)
However the funniest was Sean McFarland’s, with the funky Spider-Mobile!
Suggestions for next week: Howard The Duck as the Aflac Duck, The Lizard as the Geico Gecko, and Thor and the Warrors Three as the Capital One vikings. Pass them along.

Woo hoo! I dunno if snakebitcat came up with the same idea I suggested in the comments or just echoed me, but regardless Brother Voodoo doing Thriller just rocks!

I always equated the Fantastic Four with Sonic Youth. They have so much in common. Both New York based and both feature a married couple with that latter had a child.
Sue Richards = Kim Gordan
Reed Richards = Thurston Moore
Lee Ranaldo = Human Torch
The Thing = Steve Shelley
I betcha Sonic Youth have a cool headquarters too…
