The Line It Is Drawn #43 – Comic Book Movie Poster Mash-Ups!

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi and Michelle Smith!

The blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account. As an incentive to follow us, if we reach 3,000 followers, I’ll do another Month of Greatest Stories Ever Told!

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our SIX blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the top six choices from the previous week.

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 6 AM Pacific, Friday, June 3rd).

Next week’s theme is…

In honor of DC’s reboot announcement, come up with a tweak on a DC hero or team and our artists will draw a #1 cover for that character/group. Nightwing as a woman, African-American Batgirl, Reverse-Gender Teen Titans, All V-Neck Justice Society of America, whatever your heart desires!

Read on for the six sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Mash-up comic book characters with a famous movie poster.

Enjoy!

Thanks to all of our suggestion givers and, of course, our awesome artists! Very cool stuff this week, gentlemen!

Now go make suggestions for next week!!

Great job everyone. I want the Apokolips Now poster on my wall!

All of them are great, but I feel like the Gone With the Wind poster should have Emma as Rhett and Cyclops as Scarlett, rather than vice versa.

Man, Brando would have been a helluva Darkseid. Especially older fatter crazier Brando.

All these were great but Dr Doom/Scarface I would buy and post in my man cave on a wall by itself! Great work guys on all the art!

ok, so Nick decided to kill it twice, and we were just along for the ride. : )

…also, next week is going to be absurd, in a really good way. (not in a Jim Lee redesign way.)

Daniel – every week is pretty much absurd. ;)

Sorry I didn’t have a lot of time this week folks, so you get the bare bones chicken scratch that is my entry. Ah well, maybe next time.

Nick Perks KILLS IT!!

Woah. Nick that is… wow. Both are amazing, but Apokolips Now is just, crazy.

The Apokalips now one wins, hands down.

Scarface could have used a better line than the “doctor” joke.

The others were pretty good, but

Trainspotting was just a bit off for me – while the artist might have been going for a connection to the characters based on how they were in the movie, For some reason, the characters just looked wrong in the poses. I think that since the poster doesn’t really have to relate to the movie, I’d have made Speedy #1, Robin #3, Kid Flash #4, and Aqualad #5.

Zamn, Nick Perks killed it on SCARFACE and APOKOLIPS NOW.

And I always likes me some Caanan Grall. I love the little details on the bottom.

And the Teen Titans TRAINSPOTTING is inspired.

I don’t mean to argue with Basara, but I loved the Trainspotting one. It’s the only one I would surely buy.

Another fantastic batch.

I think I am in love with the Titanspotting poster.

Canaan did an amazing job on the X-Men/Gone with the Wind mash-up. Wolverine crack me up for some reason. Mutantcolor, indeed.

However, Nick Perks owns the week. Brando as Darkseid will haunt me for the rest of my days …

Ooo! One of my suggestions got used! And it’s magnificent! Seriously, that Apokolips Now poster is GOLD.

A fun batch all ’round, really. Good job, y’all!

Good to see Daniel didn’t go for the obvious Speedy/Renton match up in Trainspotting!

Unless the search function on twitter isn’t working, am I right in assuming no-one has made any suggestions yet for next week, Brian? What happens if we don’t get any at all? Can we just make up our own? :D

Check out covers for Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth, 1-13, all the covers were inspired by many films. One of those “simpsons did it” scenarios albeit with just one character

The Apokolips Now poster. Which Alternate Universe is it from. I want to go there. NOW.

Hmm, my problem for next week’s topic is I’m not interested in any more of this Heroes Reborn/Ultimate/Earth One nonsense, especially not in my main continuity. All I’d really like to see is some of the Didio/Johns-era stuff that’s already happened undone, and I don’t imagine we’ll be seeing much of that.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned this yet, but Speedy definitely should have been the strung out addict in the Trainspotting poster.

Ha! The latter would be funny, but I guess it is the former, since we’ve gotten a goodly amount of suggestions (even before we got an influx this morning).

Canaan,

I made a suggestion. I don’t know if anyone will find it as amusing as I did. If I’m the only one who made a suggestion, do you all have to do your own version of it?

Anonymous was me. I just reread the theme for next week and realized how my suggestion was way off from what Brian was looking for. Maybe a theme some time in the future can be mashing some notable fashion style with superhero costumes?

Wow. Great week!

Apokolips Now rocks my world.

Hey Josh. It was just some stupid twitter setting that wasn’t giving me real time results, rather “top tweets”. I see them all now. There’s some good ones! :)

Hey folks, I’m back! A short circuit left my house without power so I was away from the Net for about a week. Too bad, I was gonna suggest Green Lantern/Star Wars (the first 70′s poster) for this week. ) Oh well maybe another time.

As for this week: Great adaptations overall, everyone. Unfortunately I have my usual problem of hating some of the characters used, like Hex or White Queen, which diminishes my enjoyment of the pieces. But all were very well done.

Oh and my favorite this time was Dr. Doom/Scarface (even if Perks cheated by having two entries- HAH! kidding Perks love your stuff.)

I don’t quite get the Jurassic Park one, tho. I know Reptyll -barely- but who’s the guy zapping him, Electro?

They are all amazing. I envy artists that can come up with gems like these. Thanks for sharing!

Someone just tell me I’m doing this Twitter thing right and confirm my suggestion for Plastic Man and Woozy Winks on the E.T. poster at least landed in the suggestion box (SquashuaMan)

Also that Apok poster is the best.

It did.

Scarface and Apokolips are gorgeous!! Pretty nice work Mr Perks :D

Peace

cool. kinda want to see a Usual Suspects poster now with The Avengers.

A Trainspotting/Teen Titans mash-up, and Speedy *isn’t* the one suffering from heroin withdrawal?
