Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
All throughout June, I’ll spotlight a different web site about comic books.. Like with the month of independent comics, the month of LGBT comics and last month’s month of webcomics, I figure I will let you comic book site/blog owners out there suggest your comic book web site (or blog) for spotlight during this month. So if you want me to spotlight your comic book site, drop me a line at email@example.com!
Today we look at the group comic book commentary and reviews blog, Comics And…Other Imaginary Tales. Comics And… delivers a strong mixture of intelligent comic book reviews mixed with some compelling regular features, including a robust amount of “air time” to previewing upcoming independent comic books.
The “Secret Six” members of the blog are: Greg, Thomm, Gwen, Lee, Jim and Matthew
Like I mentioned, one of the most interesting aspects of COmics And… is the time they spend on independent books. This stands out in this three-part preview of independent books due out in August. Some intelligent commentary, and I like the dueal writer approach.
One of the writers, Matthew, has a recurring column of his musings that is often quite interesting. You can check out the archive of his pieces here.
They have had a number of interesting interview with comic book creators. Here is an archive of their past interviews. .
A good deal of the content of the site is comic book reviews, and the group so strong work in that field, coming up with a number of insightful thoughts (and the contrasting opinions from the different members of the blog is interesting).
Comics Should Be Good accepts review copies. Anything sent to us will (for better or for worse) end up reviewed on the blog. See where to send the review copies.
