I Have a New Book Coming Out!

Plume Books (a division of Penguin) is publishing a second book about comics by me! It will be due out in July 2012. It’ll basically be an extension of the various features that I do on the blog (in list format), with a mix of some of the best ones that I’ve featured these last few years as well as a lot of new stuff. In fact, I’d say about 3/4 of the book will be brand-new material. Essentially, all the stuff you see from me throughout the year at Comics Should Be Good (Comic Book Legends Revealed, Goofiest Moments, When We First Met, Drawing Crazy Patterns, Comic Book Easter Eggs, I Saw It Advertised One Day, Top ___ Writers/Runs/Storylines, etc.) will be represented.

We have a tentative/working title, but I figure I’ll wait until it is the “official” title before I share it with you all (I think it might become official as soon as tomorrow).

On top of all the material from me, I will also be having guest contributions from comic book creators. Some of the best and brightest creators from the world of comics have been gracious enough to agree to contribute guest pieces to the book.

Here is an alphabetical list of those who have agreed to contribute pieces to the book:

Jason Aaron (Jason let me use a list he had written in the past for CSBG)
Scott Allie
Paige Braddock
Peter David
J.M. DeMatteis
Mike Deodato
Jay Faerber
Dave Gibbons
Kieron Gillen
Gabriel Hardman
Frazer Irving
Geoff Johns
Jeff Lemire
Mark Millar
Greg Pak
Jimmy Palmiotti
John Rozum
Marc Sumerak
Eric Trautmann
Fred Van Lente
Mark Waid
Zeb Wells
Skottie Young

Thanks, of course, to all those creators who are doing lists. Thanks to my editor at Plume, Kate Napolitano. And thanks to my agent, Rick Broadhead.

Fun stuff. As soon as you can pre-order the book, you know I’ll share that information with you all.

Congratulations Brian!

Congrats. Sounds great. Shame you didn’t get Morrison, not for my sake as I’m not a big fan but because I know you like him so much, but you sure did get a lot of great creators. I will buy it. There isn’t a single creator you have contributing that I don’t like.

Good on you!

I really enjoyed your first book and all your columns, but please please please publish the next one as an ebook as well. I just don’t need one more book on my shelf. it could even be an enhanced book with pictures, videos, music, etc. More work? Of course! But you could be the first person to publish an interactive book on these topics.

Just sayin’

The last book had a Kindle edition, so I imagine that this one will, as well. And I would imagine you could get it on a Nook, also.

That’s awesome, Brian. I’m more than a little jealous. I really dug your last book, so I’ll definitely be picking this up as well. Congrats!

Congrats and good luck!

Sweet! I loved your last book (I swear, the day I got it, I barely put it down long enough to get ready for work), and I’m sure I’ll love this one.

Is it too early to pre-order?

Congratulation Brian! I look forward to reading your new book in the local Borders.

Wow! You should be very proud, Brian.

Incidentally, I saw a guy reading your first book at Barnes & Noble the other week. Hopefully he liked it so much he bought it.
