The Line It Is Drawn #51 – Acts of Vengeance

Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi, Michelle Smith, Bill Reed and Scott!

The blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our SIX blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the top six choices from the previous week.

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 6:00 AM Pacific, Friday, August 5th).

Next week’s theme is…

In honor of the announcement about the brand-new Ultimate Spider-Man, this week’s theme is: come up with a scenario – ANY scenario – that involves one of the non-Peter Parker Spider-Men that we have seen over the years. So Ben Reilly as Spider-Man, Ben Reilly as Scarlet Spider, Miguel O’Hara as Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales as Ultimate Spider-Man, Peter Porker as Spider-Ham and Ollie Osnick as Spider-Kid/Steel Spider. It can be ANY scenario – Ben Reilly fighting the Joker, Miguel O’Hara starring in Casablanca, Miles Morales reading poetry – anything you’d like!

Read on for the six sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Acts of Vengeance! Match-up a comic book hero against a villain that he/she has never faced before. It can be a villain from the same comic book company or a different company.

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

That Lobo/Deadpool made my day. Well done!

Hahahaha. Deadpool’s zinger really makes that last one. And I love Canaan’s Fin Fang Foom face.

And now I feel badly for MODOK! But I guess that’s why you don’t mess with OMAC.

That’s Damian Wayne Robin in the Nick Perks drawing, right? Judging from his expression, this drawing shows the exact moment that Damian entered puberty. :)

That might be the first time that I’ve ever laughed at a panel with *either* Lobo *or* Deadpool in it.

Captain Marvel vs Fin Fang Foom was an inspired match-up. Needs to happen.

@Dean – Hahahaha, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Robin/Vampirella is my winner this week. The expression on his face is PERFECT. Also, if you follow his line of sight, you’ll notice he’s not exactly looking at Vampi’s face. Great job, Nick!

I must have given at least 25 really good suggestions this time n nothing….. WTF GIVES

There were over 200 suggestions.

The next thing Robin grabs WON’T be a batarang!!!

Adam, The Blue Marvel? Is BigMike20X6 the username for Kevin Grievoux? Because he’s the only one that remembers that guy.

LOL
No, BigMike20X6 is the username for Mike Shirley, Squirrel Girl devotee and proponent of obscure and outre comic heroes and villains.

DAMN! You guys always bring it! Awesome work, everybody!

mic?: That’s some top-notch pencil work right there, dude. I digs it!

Sean: Love the watercolors! I don’t know if I’ve said this before, but your facial expressions are phenomenal! Great job. Ha! We also have a similar design scheme going.

Caanan: You’re on a Fin Fang Foom whirlwind! Suggesting it, drawing it… HELL TO THE YES! I love it. Another awesome piece delivered.

Nick: You got the look of this meeting perfectly! Real eerie like, and moody. And you know Robin’s totally looking at those vampire boobies. Awesome work, man! Can’t wait to see the extra piece!

Daniel: HILARIOUS! Got a good laugh out of it. Funny, great art — I say it’s perfect, dude! Great colors, too. I like how subdued they are.

Deadpool lobo for the win. Nice to see astro boy too!

Deadpool vs. Lobo stole the show this week.

I remember the Blue Marvel (and I get the pun in that match too :D ) though I fear most fans will go “How can Doctor Fate wrestle Adam?” since Marvel never did anything with BM again. To be fair, BM is one of the few Marvel characters who CAN really kick Black Adam’s ass (he beat The Sentry!) Besides I hate, hate, hate, HATE Black Adam (did I mention that I hate Black Adam?) For this AND having the best art this time around, I declare Mic’s piece my favorite this time!! :)

Hmm, Fin Fang Foom seems to be popular, this time around. Wonder why? I never saw his appeal.

Lobo/Deadpool would have been better if both had been falling towards a black hole in the process.

And I would’ve liked that Vampirella/Robin MUCH more if she didn’t LOOK like an actual undead! She’s never drawn that way!

(Gee I must be coming across as humorless this time. :P Sorry about that, folks. And thanks for your hard work!!)

This feature is so consistently good!
Great work on all the pics this week. I loved Captain Marvel’s smiling face, and that Lobo/Deadpool illo was hilarious and well rendered.

And I think Fin Fang Foom is popular because he is a giant green dragon who wears little purple pants. Who doesn’t like drawing that?

Atro Boy Vs. Fin Fang Foom…..awesome execution.

Green Lantern vs the Genie from Disney’s Aladdin!

OK, this was a fun topic to see! great suggestions all around and it was REALLY tough making my pick as i’m sure it was for everyone else.

Mic pulled a switcheroo and did his in pencils, seriously not a bad look, Mic. I’d love to see more pencil work from you, man. My money’s on blue marvel. Its also great to see sean tossing things up a bit too and working the gauche. stuff. I like the dimension it add. I’m just glad caanan was able to draw fing fang foom. seriously thats such a fun drawing! Chaz doesn’t ever fail to bring out the strange and giving him a character like modok to play with was just the cherry on top of the icecream. awesome.

And for the record, i’m glad that Nick didn’t draw the typical vixen Vampirella. Personally I’ve never properly understood the character’s appeal, but i think that making here a little scary really works. : )

thanks to the people that have liked my piece, and thanks to therealastrozac for suggesting it.

^Thanks for picking it and making me laugh! And I concur Mic’s pencil only drawing at the top is killer looking…

Thanks, CHAZ, SIJO, DANIEL, & ASTROZAC! Glad y’all are feelin’ the pencils!

Big ups to BIG MIKE for the suggest! I’ve been WAITING to be able to draw both characters.

SEAN :: I LOVE Cap’s face! From the expression to the tones—everything about it. I gotta see you work in this medium more.

CAANAN :: Fin Fang’s punched face is a chuckler! Even better that the one that made it happen was Astro Boy!

CHAZ :: And not to be outdone, MODOK’s rockin’ an epic punched face complete with shiner! A great nod to Brother Eye.

NICK :: When I scrolled down to yours, my jaw dropped. Sickness! lol @ Damian hitting puberty. What’s crazy is how much I DESPISE rodents… flying ones at that… *shudder*… but the bat on the farthest right is just enchanting to look at.

DANIEL :: Yikes… I laughed so much. Just when I thought I was set in disliking the character forevs, this is the most I’ve ever liked Lobo and it’s all thanks to you, damnit. Your illo’s so dope, I’m MAD feelin’ ‘Pool’s expression and hands.

Peace.

Wait… that last bit didn’t sound right. Oh, well.

Peace.

Blue Marvel appears in Fear Itself: The Home Front #4.

^Indeed he does. Great timing!

Peace.
