Name That Rogue Artist!
All November-long, I will be sharing four panels featuring a comic book character. They will each be drawn by four separate pencilers. I will be featuring only pieces of art where the penciler did full pencils (as otherwise it would be way too difficult). Your challenge is to, simply put, name that artist!
E-mail me your guesses to bcronin@comicbookresources.com. Do NOT make guesses in the comments section! After a week, I’ll post the correct answers on the archive page along with whoever guessed them correctly. You don’t have to name the issues the panels came from, but if you’d like to, knock yourself out.
Read on for the four Rogue panels…
1.

2.

Remember, don’t answer in the comments section. E-mail me your guesses at bcronin@comicbookresources.com.
3.

4. (this one is a few panels because I didn’t feel that any one or two panels properly showed you a good look at Rogue)

Good luck and have fun!

I actually used to own a copy of #4, so that’s pretty much the only one I can make a fair guess at.
(And I was going to comment about how much skin she’s showing in the first one, ’til I took a second look, and noticed the flesh-coloured body stocking. Neat trick. Still odd seeing that much cleavage on her, though.)

Man…I’m such a Rogue nerd, I’m pretty sure I know at least 3 of these.

Heh, I actually did think of you when I did this bit “I bet Kelly will know most of these.”

Is it out of line to say, “I don’t know, but they all suck”? Or is that a little too harsh?

Unfortunately, all these name the artists seem to have late 90′s, early naught artists. I could only name # 4 as Kirby! Just kidding but these quizzes make me feel that old that I know #4.

I know I have #4 somewhere, but I don’t remember what it’s from. And I know who #s 1 & 2 look like to me, but I doubt that’s actually who they are. Man, I suck at this feature.

#4 is from the final issue of Marvel Team-Up and #3 is from Marvel Fanfare, if I’m not mistaken.

So I’m guessing in the first panel Rogue had absorbed the powers of someone that had no nose?

That must’ve been around when Wolverine lost his nose, right?
“How did they smell, then?”
Wah wah!

Somehow that last comment, after the repeated and repeated and repeated instructions in the post not to guess in the comments, is hilarious.

I know I have a copy of the issue #2 was taken from somewhere. I was a kid in the ’90s.

IAM FeAR: Yeah, it always has been. Claremont is very fond of egregious eye dialects.

would not have guessed #3. Would that have been around the time that artist was going to do the Fallen Angels sequel?

Yep.

Ah, I was right, Colleen Doran is indeed a great artist. But looking at the obscureness of the artists the only chance I’ll probably have for answering any of these is “Name that Donald Duck artist”…

AS, Richard Bennet was pretty popular for a little bit in the 90′s. He was guest artist on a few key issues of Uncanny X-Men (most significantly, the death of Illyana). He also had his own series at Image back when Image was a sales powerhouse.
