The Line It Is Drawn #72 – Comic Book Characters/Doctor Who Characters
Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi, Michelle Smith, Bill Reed and Scott!
I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.
Now on to the bit!
So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our SIX blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the top six choices from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!
To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 9:00 AM Pacific, Friday, January 13th).
The topic is…
Place comic book characters into different time periods. Caveman Superman, Victorian Wonder Woman, Civil War Batman, etc.
Read on for the six sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!
Team-up or mash-up comic book characters with characters from Doctor Who!
Enjoy!
I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

Nick…HOLY HAMBURGERS! That was great man!…..
Mic…Leave it to Kate to order another ginger! (Won’t the Doctor be jealous though?)
Brendan…loved the Jack Kirby like features…..
Chaz….so does he use his orb to scan for listening devices? lol
Steve…Yeaaaaah so not wanting the doc on my side in an old west gunfight….Aliens? yes. bitter gunslingers? NO!
Sean….Plaz and the Doctor….Imagine the hijinks!!!
Too bad I don’t have Twitter because I would have suggested Centurion Rory, Marvel’s Hercules, and Wonder Woman all meeting up at the Pandorica….
Great Job All!

Good work all around. I don’t even know who half these characters are, having never seen Dr. Who. They all look intriguing, though.
However, the double tangent going on in Sean McFarland’s entry is popping out at me every time I look at it. Great work otherwise.

All excellent, especially Nick Perks – shame we only get six artists, surely a lot of mileage in this one – more another day? Please!

Once again I’m at a bit of a disadvantage because I’ve only seen the Fourth Doctor’s series (because it aired here in Spanish) and a few scattered episodes from recent years, but still, let’s see how things went:
#1- The autons are a pretty poor match for Plas, he’s way too powerful. But still, fun to see.
#2- I agree that a gunfight is one situation The Doctor wouldn’t be of much use in, but still, this was funny enough that I’ll ignore Hex’s presence (nope, don’t like him at all.) Also very good art!
#3- Perks once against does a perfect homage to the material involved. From the comic art style to the clever time-loop idea, plus it features my own favorite Doctor! Win!!
#4- I have no idea who this character is but this made me smile (even with paleskin Batwoman in it, that’s a first!) Plus very pretty artwork.
#5- Another one I don’t recognize. What’s the joke here? Anyone?
#6- …Are the characters here supposed to be the same size, or is it forced perspective? Whatever, the Kirby style artwork was great!
Hmm. Not bad, but I kind of expected more impressive stuff- you know, Doctor Who and Doctor Strange versus The Daemons or something like that- what with all the decades of classic Who stories out there. Still an enjoyable show. Congrats to everyone!

Awesome work fellas! I love it when my suggestions are used, and when 2 are used? Well that makes me very happy indeed.
Steve you’ve got real way with likenesses and the dialogue is spot on as well. Great work!
Nick Perks is pretty much my hero. Perks comics are the best, especially when they involve Tom Baker.
Mic an Amy Pond as batgirl kiss-o-gram? Sign me up! Your ladies are always so lovely, and the expressions in this piece are priceless.
Chaz now in watercolor! This is great! Ood-fred needs to be a re-occurring character!
Brendan is rocking out with the two biggest heads in nerdom. Some really wonderful ink work on this.

@Sijo – The Ood are a servant race introduced during season 2 of the current series. And I’d say the Face of Boe and MODOK are roughly the same size, yes.
Anyway, these are all great. I especially love the Nick Perks Captain America one. Amazing.

Seriously, if she’s not going to be in the New52, at least let her be the Doctor’s new companion.

Loved all of these! Doctor Who is my favorite show & my wife and i watch each episode.
One little fan nitpick is that the show name is Doctor Who, not Dr. Who. Don’t know who decided that, but that’s how it is.
Thanks to all the artists!

MODOK and the Face of Boe would be high-fiving if they had functional hands.

Great stuff. I’m surprised no one did one with Kang. He’d make a great foe for the Doctor.

Okay, I’m going to be the guy that says it’s “Doctor Who” not “Dr. Who”. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry….

I wish somebody had suggested Captain Jack and Mr. Majestic. I don’t really like Captain Jack that much, but at times his storyline on ‘Who’ reminded me of that great Alan Moore Majestic story.

Ohman, I’m sorry I missed the call for suggestions for installment, having been traveling at the time, because this combines two of my very favorite things. That said, of course I love it. Great work, y’all.
