Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi, Michelle Smith, Bill Reed and Scott!

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our SIX blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the top six choices from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 9:00 AM Pacific, Friday, January 27th).

The topic is…

In honor of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund‘s 2012 Membership Drive, team-up various comic book characters with Lady Liberty, the symbol of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund!

Read on for the six sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Celebrate Anniversary Issues That Will Likely Never Be! Choose a canceled series and our artists will come up with an Anniversary Issue cover for that book. Static Shock #500! Angel and the Ape #200! Only canceled comics that have never HAD an issue that ended in 00 qualify (so no Defenders, Sgt. Rock, etc.)!

Go make suggestions for next week! The results of the Line it is Drawn try-out will be next week (I initially said this week, but then I changed my mind)!

Oh how I wish, there were 100 issues of The Flaming Carrot.

Oh, man, I want to read that Young Justice!

All of these are so damned great! Makes me wonder what I ever did around here.

PG is looking better than ever in steve Howard’s piece! Great colors, and nice little nod to CBR with the colors used in the new DC logo! Nick Perks looks like he’s having a hell of a good time with his Omac piece. Retro goodness all around, and I’m glad to see you’re using more graphic-design-y elements to give your pieces a more weathered look.

I’m glad to see Chaz still goes for the offbeat choices, and that what he does with them is even more so! His drawings really do look like a crazy party of sorts. Then Sean comes around and blows my mind! I love what he did with the texture not to mention that the drawing itself is pretty bad-ass.

Brendan Tobin. Your simplicity kills me. a great joke and a great drawing without all the necessary noise of a background. Killer. Then after everything, Mic? wraps it up with his amazing re-imagining of young justice. goddammit that’s a book I want to know more about! who ARE these kids, and why’re they so cool??

I love dropping by and seeing how well everyone is doing! Cheers!

I got a kick out of the Aztek joke, but I’ll add my praise to the Young Justice cover. Granted, I tend to get tired of children of famous superhero stories, but that looks fun. By that Green Lantern jacket, I’d guess that’s Guy Gardner’s bratty daughter. :) Also makes me realize how there aren’t really any non-alien female GLs, are there?

The OMAC 100 cover is appropriately epic.

i’d say that Young Justice cover is: Damian, Sin, Iris and Jai West, Maxine Baker, Lian Harper and Christopher Kent

Sounds about right, Erik. Only the Green Lantern girl doesn’t have a match in the comics.

haha Powergirl came out great!

Iris had a good costume design, I wish she stuck around after DCnU though Jai still needed some work (design wise)

Oh, well; maybe Nick’s other piece will be the Secret Six…

I NEEDS me some Catman!

The GL girl looks like 4 possibilities:
1. Hypothetical child of Guy & Ice: After all, many ancient Nordic cultures didn’t have stigma attached to children from unmarried couples, and if they’d hooked up together during the JLI years, she might have easily snuck back to her magical realm to have a child, if Guy had one of his head-thump personality changes.
2. Hypothetical child of Guy & Fire: Two people mourning the person they most loved, get drunk together, wake up in a compromising position, vow never to speak of it again. Bea decides to have the child in memory of Ice, has her raised in secrecy.
3. Hypothetical child of Hal & Carol
or. 4. Hypothetical child of Kyle & Jennie
In either case, offspring of some of the more “normal” GLs, ends up with a rebellious streak, and when she gets a ring (or gets green powers from her ancestry, in the case of #4 – maybe even both), decides “Uncle Guy had the best fashion sense of all the Lanterns” and patterns her costume after his.

Which of these has more weight might depend on how much of the hair’s green tint is from her energy field, or if any of it is natural.

Are any of these guesses close?

Props for the Aztek joke, but as a big fan of the material, that’s probably exactly what that issue’s cover would have been.

How I wish both those OMAC and Kamandi covers were real.

“Sounds about right, Erik. Only the Green Lantern girl doesn’t have a match in the comics.”

Maybe Traya Smith (Red Tornado’s daughter) somehow got her hands on a GL ring. That way, there’d be a character who was a holdover from the original Young Justice.

I love the Aztek one also, but I think my fave this week is Kamandi!
The huge stone 100 is awesome.
They are all well done, so kudos all around!

no Marvel?

Normally the posts pointing out the lack of one thing or another are somewhat un-needed, BUT Fury has an excellent point right there…. no Marvel. Crazy!

Great job everybody per usual! Steve your PowerGirl gag is great, and Chaz you bring the crazy like no other!

Finally, if I know Mic? I would have to say that the girl GL is none other than Milagro Reyes.

How can you pick the best out of ideas executed perfectly? Thanks everyone for 75 great ‘issues’.

The OMAC one was great, but it would have been better if it was a “Spectacular NINTH ISSUE!”

I’m pretty sure the Green Lantern girl is Blue Beetle’s kid sister Milagro, who is a fan of Guy Gardner. It’s not the first time I’ve seen fanfic-style references to Milagro as a young GL:

I was assuming the GL girl was Milagro Reyes as well.

up until now i hated the new DC logo, but seeing it in context on that Young Justice cover, it’s kinda working for me!

Brian just to confirm….did you recieved my spider-woman idea?

Wow, 83% DC, and no Marvel at all. Interesting.

You know…….If Marvel haven’t already done this (later this month); one of my suggestions would’ve been a Power Pack “Reunion” (for either their 75th {since the series went up to 62 Issues} or their 100th Issue).

The OMAC one was great, but it would have been better if it was a “Spectacular NINTH ISSUE!”

Just as far-fetched now as it was 30-odd years ago!

Milagro as a GL would be great.

What does Jai West have in his hands?

Wow, these are really good.

I have to say, I want that YJ team to show up on some alternate Earth. I’m not a multiverse fan, but I might be swayed by seeing that group in action.

Kamandi, YES!

…I keep on scrolling up to the Power Girls, I mean Power Girl. Great job everybody!

OK, last week I was a bit out of touch with the subject (Nicktoons) but today we’re back in my field: old comics! And it delivered!!

#1- My congratulations to Steve for drawing a Power Girl who is attractive AND busty without looking like one of those Giant Breast Fetish website models. In fact overall I find his piece to be the best drawn this week! Extra points for the All-Star Comics cover addition (the issue where PG first appeared) hey, was it *actually* 40 years ago!? I REMEMBER that comic!! Nice touch! :)

#2-Now, Nick’s was a bit of a letdown, because he always captures an artist’s style so well, but this doesn’t look all that “Kirbysh”. Maybe it’s the empty background? The characters themselves are well drawn and the idea of having two of JK’s 70’s DC Creations fighting is wonderful!

#3- Should have known Chaz would do Flaming Carrot, it’s right up his alley. I don’t remember much about the character so I can’t tell how well it was done, but thanks for the nostalgia anyway. (Btw I remember its creator claimed it was based on a real person… was it ever revealed on whom?)

#4- Kamandi also doesn’t look Kirbysh HOWEVER I kind of like the style its drawn in. Also, kudos for using the “Include the Issue Number in the cover” bit, that’s classic!

#5- I’ll be honest, I never read Aztek. But that joke does sound like something Morrison would write, heh. Nice art too.

#6- This one gets the “most inventive” award this week: after all, if we’re seeing a comic “from the future” it SHOULD have new characters in it, no? Great work Mic! :)

As for there being no Marvel characters this week, well, Marvel has a better record of reusing old characters (hey, they brought back Midnight, a Master Of Kung Fu character, in Silver Surfer, of all places!!) so they don’t have as many “forgotten characters” as DC, so that might be the reason.

Congratulation to everybody! And for next week, the logical thing would be to see heroes whose creators have had to defend their copyrights eg. Superman, Howard the Duck etc. I expect good and controversial stuff! ;)

Well I’m certainly hoping TLiiD makes it to issue 100, thats for sure

that young justice cover is so great :-D

Considering Bob Burden is still alive, and still working on comics, Flaming Carrot #100 is still in the cards. Not for a long while, but I’d say it doesn’t belong among all of these officially dead and buried books.

Loved the Kamandi and Omac covers. Always was a big fan of those two.
How about Marvel Comics: Logan’s Run #100? Was always saddened that issue #6 was only half Logan’s Run and the other half of the issue was Thanos. Hated that Marvel only did original stuff for issues #6 and 7 and then pulled the plug.

That Young Justice team looks cool, and I can totally believe that ridiculous price tag. I loved that book back in the day … and I wish they would put out a Kamandi comic book *sighs* Does Kamandi get no love?

Kamandi gets no love. After all DC only reprinted the first 20 or so issues with their Archieves reprints. Would like to see the issue where the Gorillas fight for Superman’s suit reprinted.

Man, my TLIID compadres, past and present, rock hard!

Thanks for the show of love, y’all! I’m very happy you dig my piece. :) Big shout-out to PZUKAUSKAS for the hot suggestion! I’ve been wanting to draw this team so much and for so long, I finally got the excuse to do so. Many thanks!

I love the speculation w/ who the GL is. Alas, SEAN does indeed know me well. I can confirm w/ 100% certainty that she is Milagro Reyes, Blue Beetle’s younger sister. Aw yeah Familia de Reyes!

Those things in Jai/Impulse’s hands are his “lightning rods.” I know what they do and what it is, but I love the speculation so much, I’ll leave you to discuss what you think Jai’s power is or should be…! Maybe I’ll even switch my answer to yours. hahah

Totally love the Flaming Carrot and Young Justice ones!

Flaming Carrot BTW has been confirmed as appearing in the new TMNT animated series!!
