Name That Kitty Pryde Artist!

Every week, I will be sharing four panels featuring a comic book character. They will each be drawn by four separate pencilers. I will be featuring only pieces of art where the penciler did full pencils (as otherwise it would be way too difficult). Your challenge is to, simply put, name that artist!

E-mail me your guesses to bcronin@comicbookresources.com. Do NOT make guesses in the comments section! When I post the new challenge, I’ll post the correct answers for the previous on the archive page along with whoever guessed them correctly. You don’t have to name the issues the panels came from, but if you’d like to, knock yourself out.

Read on for the four panels featuring Kitty Pryde (specifically from her Shadowcat days)…

Good luck and have fun! This is a relatively easy week, so I best see a bunch of guesses!

Don’t know the artist, but picture #2 looks like Lucille Bluth in a mask.

Throwing a bit of a curve by including both #1 and #4. Nicely done.

For some reason, I remember thinking her Shadowcat costume was good-looking. After some time away, I realize I was wrong.

I was thinking much the same thing. Oddly enough, though, her previous Shadowcat outfit (from Uncanny) was even worse!

The basics of the costume are good–the mask is the first thing you remember, the color scheme is striking. The puffy sleeves are easily forgotten. Or repressed.

And man, these are hard. I figured that for Kitty at least I would recognize the artists with little trouble. Not so.

Yeah, agreed, Niels. The color scheme is good and the mask is good, but man, those puffy sleeves. Davis loved him his puffy sleeves. And the leggings!

It is basically Davis’ Psylocke costume design, only with a really cool mask and better colors (I do like the sash).

Either way, it is not a cool costume (although it is an improvement over the previous design).

Can #1 really be as obvious as it looks?

Ok, it’s official. You guys actually go after some of the worst artists that have ever drawn any given character for this “Name That Artist!” play thing.

Where is the picture of Kitty chiding Peter from please Brian? I can’t remember it from UXM….which probably means it’s too long since I read some of those issues in the 170-220 range!

Seconded. Sometimes I open these things and think, “Shit, I don’t know any of these artists!” – but then I realize it’s because they’re all garbage.

..Except the mighty Alan Davis, of course.

Uncanny X-Men #193.

Thanks Brian.
