Comic Book DJ: What Music Should Be Playing At the Evil Girl Legionnaires Dance Party?

See this column to read the background behind this scene from Adventure Comics #326 (written by Jerry Siegel and drawn by John Forte), but right now, what I want to know is – what music would you play if you were the DJ at at an Evil Girl Legionnaires Party?

Clearly Nancy Sinatra.

Are there any all-girl metal bands?

Yeah Visen used to be big in the 80s or Joan Jett & the Runaways.

One eyed, one horned flying purple people eater

“Making Mischief” by the Misfits. From Jem.

The Pipettes.

“Search & Destroy” by the Stooges.

I’d start off with “All Tomorrow’s Parties” and keep playing some Nico-era Velvet Underground before moving on to some heavier stuff.

“Linus & Lucy” from the soundtrack of A Charlie Brown Christmas…

Bad Girls – Donna Summer

The proper bad girl music would be some smoky jazz or in a pinch Portishead, but you can’t really throw a party like the one pictured with it.
So I guess I’ll have to go with something edgier but danceable. Slits, Kleenex/LiLiPUT, Malaria!, Lydia Lunch, Delta 5, Lizzy Mercier Descloux, Ideal…hmm, this is an idea for a mix CD :)

Oh, and B-52s of course.

Dresden Dolls.

Skrillex. Hour after hour of Skrillex.

One Step Beyond – Madness

Easy. Don’t Laugh – Tony de vit remix

Given Supergirl’s line, clearly it must be “Happy Happy Joy Joy” from Ren and Stimpy.

Like FS7, I was thinking “Venus in Furs”, by the VU.

Oh, and Spice Girls. That’s evil.

Cherry Bomb by the Runaways (Joan Jett and Lita Ford!)

“Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy” by Tata Young

“We Got The Beat” by the Go-Gos.

“Rebel Girl” by Bikini Kill

Sleater-Kinney

Donna Summer- Bad Girls was also the first thing I thought of. Rihanna-Good Girl Gone Bad would also be a good choice. And I like the idea of the Runaways-Cherry Bomb being the pick.

Bah, the obvious answer is The Waitresses’ “I Know What Boys Like”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UX2afsTqFI

Sparks – “Music That You Can Dance To” – “just the perfect blending of sex and noise”

Oh yeah, and it’s “hotter than your mama will ever be”

Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries

Wesley Willis’s cover of Duran Duran’s Girls on Film

The music from the MST3K movie “Girl with Gold Boots”

XTC “Brainiac’s Daughter”

Most likely, it should be some strange danceable 30th century music using instruments that haven’t been invented yet.

Hm, lets see… lots of stuff from the last Britney Spears album, Nicki Minaj, Uffie, early Madonna, Chic, Shampoo, something trippy like Silver Apples, Suicide, Spacemen 3, Captain Beefheart is always good, Pretty Girls Make Graves, maybe some Detroit Cobras, and Plasmatics, Girlschool (or Gallhammer) for metal.

Oh, and Paramore! Love me some Paramore.

Rihanna, B-52s, and Madness are excellent choices.

Specific songs that I would definitely squeeze in:
Showgirls – Foolin’ Around
Nicola Roberts – Beat Of My Drum
Kamp! – Cairo
Class Actress – Keep You
Flight Facilities feat. Jess – Foreign Language
Ronika – Forget Yourself
Sky Ferreira – 99 Tears
Gang Gang Dance – Mindkilla
The Internet – Cocaine

Or I could just play the soundtrack from this movie. That should be appropriate.

I believe the correct answer is “Whatever they tell me to play”.

“The music from the MST3K movie “Girl with Gold Boots””

Everybody do the “Wounded Turkey”!

Rob Zombie – Living Dead Girl.

Stereolab – Infinity Girl

Tess Turbo and the Blackheads (Bloom County)

Beyonce, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”

What? A lot of stuff gets misintereted inside one thousand years.

“Pretty Like Drugs” – Queen Adreena

Shout – Tears for Fears “Shout, shout; let it all out. These are the things we can do without. Come on, i’m talking to you; Come on!”

Strangelove – Depeche Mode “They’ll be times when my crimes will seem almost unforgivable. i give in to sin cause you have to make this life livable”
“Strangelove, strange highs & strange lows. Strangelove, that’s how my love goes. Strangelove, will you give it to me? Will you take the pain i will give to you again & again, and will you return it? Pain, i’ll say it again. Pain”

The Dickies – Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Green Day – Good Ridance

Also with Light Lass’ comment,

‘I could have danced all night’ from My Fair Lady.

Really anything by the Donnas, but I’m thinking “Take Me To The Back Seat.”

Spock’s Beard – Beware of Darkness

Whoa, Hatcher likes the Donnas! Way cool!

I also forgot, any Sonic Youth song sung by Kim Gordon. Maybe “Kool Thing” in particular.

Vanity 6 – Nasty Girl

“Flying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off” – Panic! at the Disco

House of Pain “Jump Around’

Hmmm… It’s seeing either “Brass Monkey” by the Beastie Boys or “If U Wanna Be My Lover” by the Spice Girls.

Also, Madonna’s Ray of Light

Tori Amos Raspberry Swirl, and the really dancey mixes of Professional Widow

A couple of songs from Attack of the Grey Lantern and Six.

and this classics:
Omar Souleyman – Leh Jani
Heart2Heart – Facebook Offical
Nerwowe Wakacje – Superman Jest Dead
Stranglers – No More Heroes
Taake – Myr (Yep, everything is better with a banjo)
Darkthrone – Too Old Too Cold
2NE1 – I Am The Best
Korpiklaani – Wooden Pints
(The fiddler! the fiddler makes this band truly awesome)

Also, Madonna’s Ray of Light

Ray Of Light sucks. Post-80s Madonna is a diabolical imposter.

The Crazed Spruce

I Love Myself Today (Bif Naked)
Goodbye Earl (Dixie Chicks)
Bye Bye Boyfriend (FeFe Dobson)
Bitch (Meredith Brooks)

Le Tigre?

The Sisters of Mercy – “Temple of Love”

Evil girl Legionnaires need to get their goth on.

Remains of the Gods by Light This City
I know Hollywood and You Aint It by Walls of Jericho (well, anything by Walls of Jericho)

Googam son of Goom
