50 Greatest Spider-Man Covers of All-Time: 15-11
In honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Spider-Man, we’re doing four straight months of polls having to do with Spider-Man, culminating with the release of the Amazing Spider-Man film in July. Future installments will deal with Spider-Man creators, Spider-Man characters and Spider-Man stories, but this month will be about Spider-Man covers.
You all voted, now here are the results! We’ll reveal five covers a day until the end of the month (with the top ten being split into #10-7, 6-4, 3-1). Here is a master list of all the covers that have been revealed so far.
Enjoy!

#15 and 14 are showing Amazing 100 instead of the actual picks.
It’s definitely been interesting to see what people voted for and if I agree with the rankings or not.
For many I think they are great but not necessarily ‘top 50′ great.
And with every new post I learn I’ve been way off with my votes! None of them have appeared thus far!
I can’t say I’m surprised, but I thought 3 or 4 of them would have a good chance at the top 50.
I now think only one has any hope at the top 10. Maybe two.
Or maybe I’m so good I chose the perfect top 10 hahaha :p

OK, we get it Brian, you really like Amazing 100!!!
I do know what those other 2 look like, so I’d have to say that this group of 5 is probably the best we’ve seen so far.
Which, um, makes sense, I suppose. duh me.

Count me surprised– I genuinely thought ASM 129 would be in the top 10 at least.

I misplaced my copy of my list, but Secret Wars #8 is only the third one from it to make the top 50. (Though I must’ve been going by a variant cover, ’cause mine looked completely different….)

Actually, I think i voted for ASM 300, so this would be the fourth, along with the black 9/11 cover and the wedding annual. (I’m pretty sure the Punisher cover was on my short list, though. And I was torn between ASM 121 and 122, but chose the latter.)

was wondering when the cover of the issue hinting of gwens death coming would show up along with spider mans first outing in the black suite that birthed venom.

Alright, now my picks are starting to show up (and FINALLY, the black costume is here!).
ASM 252 was my #3 pick. If you judge a good cover by how it attracts your attention and makes you want to open up the book, that cover is indeed one of the greatest ever (and the background colours are nice too!).

Ron Frenz was such a great Spider-Man artist.

I’d love to see a piechart of this top 50… Romita would have a big old slice of pie, that’s for sure

I love Ron Frenz. I always thought it was a cruel joke on fans that just when they get an artist that could really homage Ditko, they made Spidey’s suit all black!

Those two black costume covers do nothing for me. One’s an homage and the other is just bad.

Yeah, those black Spidey covers do nothing really for me. Lack of detail in the costume me thinks.
Which brings me to the McFarlane #1 – Great cover. Story, a bit meh

The cover text on those first two covers is pretty hilariously bad. “Amid the chaos, there comes a costume–!” (and I don’t even know what those dashes are supposed to signify). And “The legend of the arachknight” is just trying wayyy too hard.
It’s interesting reading that Punisher cover now, particularly the “hired assassin” part.

I’m really surprised that ASM 129 is only at #12. I had it pegged for top 3, possibly #1.

Guess it’s about time for the “famous” covers.

Is it me, or does the McFarlane cover not look like Spidey pooped out a bunch of webbing?

I love the implication that Peter would be *devastated* by Jonah dying! (Or Norman Osborn, for that matter!)
