Go follow Comics Should Be Good on Twitter (if you have Twitter, that is – if you don’t, you can go sign up). Here is our Twitter page… http://twitter.com/csbg. And here are the Comics Should Be Good writers who are on Twitter (the links go to the person’s Twitter account) – myself, Greg Hatcher, Chad Nevett, Kelly Thompson, Sonia Harris Danielle Leigh, Melinda Beasi, Michelle Smith, Bill Reed and Scott!

I update the blog’s Twitter account updates whenever a new post is put up on the blog, so it’s an easy way to keep up with the blog. In addition, I post new content on the blog’s Twitter account.

Now on to the bit!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on our Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply) and our blog sketch artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post them here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week. Here is an archive of all the previous editions of The Line It Is Drawn!

To qualify, you have to be following us when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 6:00 AM Pacific this Friday).

The topic is…

The Case of the Stolen Superpower! Name a comic book character and then give that character the powers of another comic book character. Batman with the Flash’s power, Wonder Woman with Black Canary’s power, etc. Idea courtesy of our own Yukinori Xum.

Read on for the sketches that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Comic book characters on reality shows! Aquaman on the Deadliest Catch, the Real Superhero Wives of New York City, the New Warriors on American Idol, etc. Idea courtesy of our own Thea (with a twist by our own Josh)

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion.

Best One = Gotham Shore. Great idea putting Helena in there!

Fish whisperer is funny, but Gotham Shore KILLS it!

The entries for this week range from the good to the downright hysterical:
Walko’s Gotham Shore- Snooki-Mite BWAHAHAHAHA
Howard’s Osbournes- Funny how Norman ends up being the equivalent of a house pet!
Perks’ Hell’s Kitchen- Ramsay actually pwns Mephisto? Nice touch featuring the other famous comic book demons in the background.
Trumbull’s COPs: Gotham edition – Nicely drawn and good subtle joke regarding Gotham law enforcement efficiency. Is that Commissioner O’ Hara?
Xum’s JLA gets Punk’d – Somehow teaming up Ashthon Kutcher and Ambush Bug made perfect sense.
Folgar’s Toxic Avenger meets Jersey Shore – Man, that was seriously weird and Snooki’s even freakier than ol’ Toxie.
D’ Alfonso’s Wild Boyz – Another brilliant pairing and great use of the Sarlacc Pit reference.
McFarland’s To Catch a Predator – Hilariousl wrong in a good way.
Medellin’s Wife Swap feat. Supes and Spidey – Poor Clark!!!
Gowdy’s Fish Whisperer – Highly amusing to see Arthur using his skills to ACTUALLY talk to fish!

Fish Whisperer wins it.

Thanks for using my suggestion! However, I meant for Batman to be caught on To Catch A Predator. You know, Batman shows up at a potential new Robin’s house but oops! Chris Hansen is there to grill him about the chatroom logs where he describes dressing up little boys in spandex and keeping them up late at night. I’ll have to be more specific next time.

^ That’s a funny idea too, Mike, but I also love Sean’s use of the Mad Hatter. Perfect choice!

Trumbull’s COPs: Gotham edition – Nicely drawn and good subtle joke regarding Gotham law enforcement efficiency. Is that Commissioner O’ Hara?

It was a uniformed Harvey Bullock in my mind when I started drawing it (hence the “Commish” nickname), but I kind of got away from his likeness in the execution. So if you want to imagine that it’s Chief O’Hara instead, that’s fine by me! :)

It is a good joke, but I wouldn’t really call it subtle.

I can never unsee Gotham Shore.

As always, the strangest theme yields the best results. Great week, ALL of ya! :D

Haha, LOL’d at the Boba Fett about to shave Chewbacca :)

SNOOKIE MITE!

This may be one of the best weeks yet. Quality work all around. Love Fish Whisperer and Punk’D ones!

Even Mephisto can’t take Ramsey’s yelling.

OK. I really didn’t like this week’s topic. At all. But that is probably because I have never watched reality TV. Still 87 out of 88 ain’t bad and the Ashton Kutchner/Ambush Bug and Deadpool/Boba Fett were still funny.

Yeah, it’s an inherently obnoxious topic, but I thought folks did a good job with it. The Deadpool/Boba Fett one is my favorite, and I’ve never even heard of that show. I do love that Nick put Hot Stuff in his piece, though.

I don’t even know what most of these shows are. Good art but lack of knowledge really takes the fun out of this one for me. :(

What about Magneto’s Family Jewels? <– A send-up of Gene Simmons' Family Jewels

Hell's Kitchen with Mephisto and Gordon Ramsey had me in stitches. XD

I was hoping to get the Jean Grey School for the Gifted done MTV Cribs style, with Broo & Quentin Quire as our hosts. But I guess that’s what I get for not suggesting.

As for the entires this week, high marks all around. I agree with others that Gotham Shore was probably the best, but all were good.

I like the Hell’s Kitchen.

I never watch any of these shows, but I like anything with Hot Stuff. But where is his tail?

@Mary Warner – Hot Stuff has a tail?? Oh, right, well it’s just out of sight behind his arm. Yes.
I’m disappointed no one has asked what Mephisto is cooking in that pan…

….devilled kidneys (hee hee)

Somehow the Mad Hatter getting caught on TCAP makes perfect sense. The only Batman villain who looks more pedo than him is (possibly) the Calendarman. Or is it the Clock King? I always get those two confused.

I just want to know why Chaz made Snooki so much prettier than she really is….

Nick,

I just figured Mephisto had REALLY screwed up the chateaubriand…great piece by the way; the inclusion of Etrigan and Hot Stuff was priceless!

Although as much as I hate Bat-Mite — ever since I saw him on the Batman cartoon from the late Seventies — did he REALLY deserve to be turned into Snooki? I do have to give Walko credit for including the baby bump!

“Fish Whisperer” is one my alltime favorites, and I always knew Kari was the smartest one of the Mythbusters!

Can’t say I much like the depiction of MJ on Wife Swap though — she has never looked that ditzy to me, but that’s the only real misfire I see in an otherwise very enjoyable week.

I loved them all but I’m surprised no one thought of the Bat-chalor staring Bruce and Barbra, Steph, Cass, Seleina, Kate Kane, Lois, Diana, Talia, Renia Montoya Vicki Vale, Zatanana, Detective Chen (from The Batman), Helina Bartnelie(Huntress 2 Pre-Flashpoint) Rachle Daws, Katana, Sasha Bordeaux, Harly & Ivy (in Arkham Asylum designes) and any of the other herorines and villiness that Bruce has been aleggedly, romanticly linked to in in the last 40 years.

This was a great week…. so many good ones. The ones I loved most effectively mashed up the Reality Show personality with comic book tomfoolery.

Steve Howard’s “Osbournes” does that quite nicely, with the unexpected pumpkins-as-fecal-matter. Nick Perks subverts expectations with Mephisto cowering at Gordon Ramsey. Xum’s JLA getting Punk’d effectively captures a Kutcher-esque prank, done super-style. Marco’s Wildboyz is well drawn and quite funny.

And…. I watch too much TV. :)

And for everyone that posts jonny-come-lately suggestions on THIS week’s theme… get yer butts on Twitter and make ‘em happen! There’s some imaginitive after-thoughts every week that could be drawn if you’d suggest ‘em.

I love Ozzy’s shirt.

Sorry I’m late with my comments today, my local server seems to be undergoing adjustments.

Anyway, I really cannot tell if this week’s theme will work out for me or not. I hate most reality shows. Let’s see how it turns out:

Gotham Shore: Off to a bad start, as I don’t even know what this is a parody of. Walko’s art is fun as ever though.

Green Goblin on The Osbournes: Never seen this show (though ironically enough, I LIKE The Osbournes themselves, I just don’t care to watch their family life). The joke here was very clever, though, and Howard’s art is incredible!

Mephisto & Gordon Ramsey in Hell’s Kitchen: Ugh, I hate Mephisto so much (and not just for One More Day) that even Perks’ art cannot get me to like this piece. (Nice cameos by Hot Stuff and Etrigan, though!)

The COPS episode in Gotham City: Not much of the “Cops” show style here (it’s supposed to be point-of-camera-view) but this is so funny I don’t care.

Ambush Bug & Ashton Kutcher trick the JLA on Punk’d: …Yeah. The JLA tricked by AB and the Guy from Punked? Pathetic. (Nice art though.)

Toxic Avenger joins the cast of Jersey Shore: No, seriously, I’m not joking, I don’t even have an idea what Jershey Shore is supposed to be about. Just that it’s supposedly awful. Toxie probably fits there well then. XD

Marvel’s Hercules and/or Thor on Mythbusters: Ok, THIS is one reality show I DO like- and Thor zapping the guys (and getting the girl) rules!! Bust THIS myth if you can! HAH! My favorite so far!

Deadpool and Boba Fett on “Wild Boyz”: Another show I know nothing about. And why Deadpool AND Fett? Why not just one of them?

Batman on To Catch A Predator: This is hilarious and disturbing at the same time. I mean I get the joke, but since when is the Mad Hatter a pedophile? No let me guess it was a recent retcon right? *grumble*

Peter & MJ and Lois & Clark on Wife Swap: Didn’t care much for the jokes themselves, but the idea is intriguing, and the art is beautiful!

Aquaman in the Fish Whisperer: Another really funny one. Though you know, Aquaman’s ability to talk to fish has always bothered me. How can creatures as stupid as goldfish even think? Not to mention if they think, aren’t they people and eating them would be murder? And how come his power only works with sea animals and not say, horses? Anyway those are just peeves of mine this is still good.

Hey, that was better than I expected, though I really missed the jokes on a few ones on account of never having seen the shows (and I’m not sure I want to, either!) Anyway another great week of work by our resident artists. Thank you! :D

Oh, Sijo…. if you knew the references you would have liked them more, I think!

I’m actually surprised how commentors are unfamiliar with these shows. I mean, I loathe THE BACHELOR and the HOUSEWIVES OF [fill in blank] COUNTY on sight…. and find MYTHBUSTERS tedious and WIFE SWAP stupid… but I know what they are.

Punk’d! Featuring the dynamic duo of A-Bug and D-Bag!

You know, you don’t HAVE to know what the shows are about to enjoy the pieces…

Like I have no idea what Wildboyz is, but the piece was dang funny.

This was another excellent week. We are spoiled! What’s great is that we can get an absolute riot of a piece like Bill’s Gotham Shore (Damian should totally start calling himself Waynie D, or D-Wayne), think, oh, nothing can come close to that, but then get pieces like the Fish Whisperer, or Wife Swap, or To Catch a Predator.

I think that MJ comment in the Wife Swap was a subtle nod to that MJ washing laundry statue from a few years back, am I right?

And it wasn’t until I read Sijo’s comment that I connected that Toxic Avenger is from Jersey (right?), so the joke is even funnier.

We are so spoiled! Keep it up, everyone, and thanks!
