Cover Theme Game for 6/13
Every week you’ll get a brand-new comic cover theme game! The game works like this: I’ll show you three covers. They all have something in common, whether it be a character, a trait all three characters share, a connection between all three characters, a locale, a creator, SOMEthing. And it isn’t something obvious like “They all have prices!” “They all have logos!” “They all feature a man!” “They are all Avengers (who ISN’T?)!” “They’re all dead (who HASN’T been killed off?)!” “They’ve all been cloned (who HASN’T been cloned?)!” etc.
In addition, please note that you must have some familiarity with comic book history to correctly guess these comics. You cannot guess the connective theme just by looking at the covers solely, you must have some knowledge beyond just the covers. The connections will ONLY have to do with connections in the actual comic books (so no incidental connections like “they share the same last names of Vice Presidents,” etc.).
If you come up with an answer that works outside of what I intended, I’ll give you credit (well, provided I think it fits, of course).
One more thing – if there are floating heads on the cover, ignore them! They don’t mean anything! Same thing with corner boxes!
If you think you know the answer, e-mail me at bcronin@comicbookresources.com. Don’t answer in the comments. This way, people who check in at different times of the day can still get credit for answering it correctly!
Here is an archive of all the past cover theme games, plus their answers. Before each new installment, I’ll post the answers to the previous week’s game.
Good luck and enjoy!

#2

#3

This one is gettable, if a BIT tricky. It would have been a lot trickier if I had used a different cover for #3.

So…Doctor Druid’s reincarnation comes with hair? I guess that’s an upgrade.

Yeah, it was a really weird reincarnation. More hair, thinner and a ponytail. Who thought Doctor Druid was going to become a popular character with a makeover?

Goblin on the second one looks like he’s doing this to Spidey:
“I’m poking your face! I’m poking your face!”
Man, I always feel dumb with these games.

Dr. Druid’s reincarnation also appears to be a 2 feet tall homunculus that emerges from his head…

Didn’t last week violate the “No vice presidents” rule?

Which Green Goblin is that? Is that Bart Hamilton (aka Green Goblin #3 aka Harry’s POS shrink)?
I can’t remember off hand.

That should be Bart because the big reveal is in #181.

Goblin on the second one looks like he’s doing this to Spidey:
“I’m poking your face! I’m poking your face!”
I thought he was doing “I’m not touching you!”

This one’s got me flummoxed. I keep coming up with solutions that fit two of the covers, but none that fit all three.

Well I think I got this one.

Holy crap, I actually got one!
The lesson, kids, is complain about the last game, and then you get the next one!
No, no, actually, it was Joe Mac and Da Fug mentioning that bit about Bart Hamilton that got it for me, along with looking up Druid. I just had to figure out who on the first cover fit the bill.
